Wednesday in Iowa

We have been working like crazy since Monday afternoon and we aren’t done yet!  We have made great progress but there’s still lots to unpack.  We have almost all of the main floor done, except for pictures on the walls, and one of the bedrooms upstairs almost completed.  Vanessa will have lots to keep her busy for weeks to come…they have LOTS of stuff in case you can’t guess.

Burlington is a neat little town and the people seem to be very friendly…small town atmosphere.  Two neighbors have been by to welcome them to the community.  One brought a plate of homemake peanut butter cookies and the other brought a bowl of chicken salad, chips, bread, and a book telling about the area and even has an article about their new home.  Not sure I’ve mentioned it, but their new home is over a hundred years old and we LOVE it.  I do like old houses with the tall cellings, creaks, and groans.  I know they will love it once it’s all put together like they like.  You can check George’s blog for a couple of pictures of it.

We will leave here on Friday morning, so tomorrow will be another full day.  George is going to be working at UofL for seven weeks and he will start Monday.  We want to have a little time to rest before he starts that.  This is a temporary position and he’s not sure what he’ll be doing.  One of the ladies from church hired him and she’s an assistant dean to the college of education and human development and she said they just needed more help…hope he’ll like working full time again.  We have become spoiled to having little scheduled plans most days but we’re always busy.  After the seven weeks, I’m sure we will be going to New Orleans to work there for awhile.

Our house still hasn’t sold so we may be in Louisville longer than we had exected.  I do hope we will be moved…AND SETTLED…before Thanksgiving, etc.  This experience of helping Clark and Vanessa will help me get rid of stuff I’m not using, etc.  I know Tanya’s house and what I have that will work there and all other stuff will have to go.  I will not be moving stuff that will not be used.  Therefore, we may only have to use George’s truck to get our stuff to Wilmore!  Just kidding, I won’t scale down that much, but I have already gotten rid of lots of things that were not being used.

It’s getting late and I’m tired so I’ll close for now.  I’ll let you know when we get back to Louisville and look forward to hearing from you.

Blessings….
