Happy Memorial Day…

May we all take a few minutes today to remember all the men and women that have served our country so that we may  continue to enjoy the freedom we have today.  Since most, if not all, of us only know living within this realm of freedom, we don’t really appreciate it… we feel entitled because we are Americans!  Thanks to all those that have served, and continue to serve, all of us!!

This past Saturday George and I went to Louisville to attend our “OLD” care group party and I enjoyed seeing everyone once again.  Of course, the longer we’re away from them the more distant the feeling when we are together…we’re no longer walking on the same path.  We do have the bond of friendship, but it’s just different.

We stayed over Saturday night at a downtown hotel, so we could surprise Ryan at church Sunday morning as he was one of the youth speakers, and that was an experience.  Saturday evening was a beautiful evening so we decided to go for a walk down by the river…Louisville has done an outstanding job of beautifying the river front.  There were lots of people there because there was also a concert going on in the area.  Well…about 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning we had the fire alarm go off in our room…in every room for that matter…saying a fire alarm had been activated, stay in your room until notified to evacuate…Do Not use the elevator should we have to leave (we’re on the 6th floor)…all the while a strobe light continued to flash non stop right beside the bed.  This went on for over 30 minutes.  Then the light goes off, an announcement was made that it was a false alarm, and we were expected to go back to sleep.  This hotel has 25 floors, so there were a lot of people involved, and I hope they were able to find the person that thought that was a good idea and throw him / her in the “slammer”.  We were very thankful there wasn’t a fire and we did sleep…off and on…until time to get up.  We did another walk before church and that was nice once more.

The 5th Sunday at OCC the youth do the church service and Ryan was one of the three speakers.  He did an excellent job and was very composed, articulate, and had put quite a bit of thought into what he had prepared.  They used the Romans 12 passage about being united even though we are all different.  He was pleased, as were all the others, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.  We did surprise him, by the way!

Well, I need to get going on my morning walk before it gets to hot.  Have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the entire week.  We continue to be blessed much more than we deserve and for that I’m thankful.

Blessings………
