Clark and Vanessa got to our place last Thursday night and they headed back for Burlington this morning (Tuesday). Clark brought a whole trailer load of furniture, decorative stuff, and many miscellaneous items that will all be used at the “blue house”. I can’t remember just all we said we’d take and I wasn’t with them when all of it was unloaded and placed in a storage unit for the next few weeks but I’m sure all of it will be used.
Our time together went very fast. On Friday we didn’t do a lot more than visit, the guys picked blackberries so I could make them a cobbler, and we shared our dinner with the Crockett’s…fun time and lots of laughs. Saturday Clark and George went fishing on the KY River…they rented a canoe and paddled 3.5 miles to a creek that was suppose to have good trout fishing. All they really got from that trip was sore muscles. We were suppose to go see Grayson play ball that afternoon but because the guys misjudged the time it would take to paddle that distance, we missed the game. Clark said they only got to fish about 30 minutes before it was time to head back…memories were made, however. When they got home, they got cleaned up and we drove over to Shaker Village to look around for just a few minutes. We left there and headed to Harrodsburg to find a place for dinner that had been suggested by a friend…Eddie Montgomery Steak House…and it was very good! After church on Sunday, we headed to Paris, KY to see Grayson’s final ball game in the scorching heat…sorry to say they came up a little short but Grayson did well. He was nervous with ALL his family watching…his words, not mine. Sunday evening Daniel, Clark, and George went fishing again. This time about all the got were mosquito bites! Yesterday, the guys ran all over Lexington…per Clark…looking for stuff George needs for the “blue house”. While they were gone, Vanessa and I hit the cute little gift shop in downtown Wilmore! My friend, Linda, has some really cute costume jewelry! Melissa and her four children came over for dinner and to spend some time with Clark and Vanessa. Tanya made chicken enchiladas and I made some beef (gluten free) enchiladas so we had a great meal together. I think the highlight of the evening for the kids was the last event of the evening. Clark stated he could out run Meredith…maybe all of them…so they all lined up in the street and they took off. Well…Clark took about three steps and pulled a ham string and came up limping rather badly. The kids loved it! He’s the funniest uncle! Once they all left, he iced his leg until time for bed…he’s limping again today. That will make for a long ride home! They’ll never forget that race, I’m sure.
Guess that’s about it. I’ve got laundry ready to come out of the dryer so I’ll get off of here. I looks like a storm is about to hit our area and we do need the rain.
I’ll be back tomorrow, hopefully.
Blessings………
