Sunday once more…

To say we’ve had a busy couple of weeks would be an understatement.  All of it has been good, so there are no complaints.  We enjoyed the days we had Clark and Vanessa with us, then we did the Tennessee/Alabama/high school reunion thing, and this past week we had three of Melissa’s children from Tuesday night through this afternoon…Ryan jumped on board Saturday afternoon once he returned from ROTC camp.  The children were good but they are kids and that can sure keep us OLD folks tired.  I might add that their dog, Pal, was also part of the mix.  Tanya was a great help, along with her four, by having them sleep over at her house on most nights, so the days flew by.  I did the meals for all of us each evening and Tanya did the “sleep overs”.  Now that’s good team work!  Tanya and her family left on Friday morning for Chicago and are to be back home tomorrow night.  Therefore, we are blessed with having Sugar…their dog…as our house guest currently…I’m also feeding Meredith’s fish and rabbit.  We are thankful we have the energy to do all of these things and feel the good Lord continues to bless us far more than we deserve.  I do get tired, however!

Surely, we’ll get the “blue house” all but finished this week.  The carpet is to be laid tomorrow and that will make such a big difference.  We have all the stuff for the base boards, the trim that goes down between rooms, and the living room flooring and it’s just a matter of finding the time to get it all down.  It really is looking good and I can’t wait to finally get it all decorated.  I’m hoping we’ll have time tomorrow to check out a trundle bed we found on the Internet that would be perfect for one of the bedrooms.  That will leave one bedroom to furnish, the living room, and to purchase a full size mattress and box springs for the other bedroom.  Of course, the stuff for the kitchen will have to be bought but I do have dishes, glasses, and bowls already.

It continues to be HOT and won’t be letting up for a while yet.  We heard today while in Louisville that they are expecting actual temperature of 102, or higher, a couple of days this week…we’ll only be in the high 90’s.  The grass and flowers have finally shown the results of the constant HOT.  I water daily but the flowers sure are looking sad!

We had our BIG water maple tree cut down this weekend and it’s sad it had to go.  There were a lot of dead branches but from the looks of what was cut, there was a lot of good still available.  Regardless, it’s gone and that mess will have to be cleaned up once the stump is ground out.  I’m sure the tree was over 100 years old…our house is over 110 yrs. old…but we couldn’t take a chance on it falling on the house.  Every storm brought down branches, so it was time.

Got a couple of chores to do before time for bed, so, I’ll say good night for now.  Have a great week, stay as cool as possible, and bless all the kids as they start back to school this week…or soon for those in Louisville.  I’m thankful that Melissa and Byron had a fun time celebrating their 20th anniversary and we wish them many more happy years…the next 20 will go by even faster!  Continue to pray that Mom and Dad, along with Clark and Vanessa, will sell their homes this week.  They both need this to happen…and sooner would be so much better than later!

Blessings…..
