We got to Abilene on Tuesday evening after a long ride from Atoka, TN. While in Atoka we found Scott, Allison, Turner, and Neyland were all doing well and the boys are getting so big…already eight months old! Turner and Neyland continue to be very good natured babies and remain as cute as a button…Turner looks like Scott and Neyland looks like Allison’s dad to me.
Mom and Dad seem to be doing well and are anxious to get this move over with. We met with the realitor yesterday to see if she had any suggestions for “appeal affects” and we will get that done today or tomorrow. George re-stained the front door yesterday, cleaned the brass kick plate, put up a new mail box, spray painted the house numbers, and cleaned off the front porch. While he was doing all of this, mom and I cleaned out all the cabinets in the guest bathroom and all three closets in the guest bedroom. Throwing away, or getting rid of stuff, continues to be very hard for mother…even if it is empty boxes and old gift bags. I wish I had the time to strip off the wall paper in the bathrooms and entry hall but someone else will have to tackle that job. That’s a job that really needs to be done and would really change the complexion of the house. We seldom keep our homes “updated” because we no longer see it as others do. Our comfort can be very blinding!
We played some 42 last night and we finally won…they beat us like a drum on our last trip. This game was nip and tuck but we hung on and survived…they are brutal and hard to beat!
Today we are eating lunch at University Place and meeting the director there…hope to see a unit or two , also. We have been there before when our friend Phillis lived here and it really is a nice facility. Mom and Dad know most everyone there so they will come in with friends…a real blessing.
Have a good day, enjoy the cooler weather, and remember…GOD REMAINS IN CONTROL!
Blessings……..
