Can you believe it…we’ve actually had sunshine for the last TWO days. It’s not really warm…low 40’s…but the sun makes us think it’s warm and that’s a good thing. Actually the low 40’s is a heat wave compared to what we’ve had for the last 4-6 weeks. I’m praying that spring will really be here in just another six weeks…sooner would be even better….and I will be so ready to enjoy it. I’ve heard that this week will go downhill about the middle of the week, but I’m going to state “It’s just not so”…I like living in denial!!! Come on Spring…lots of folks are sure waiting for you!
We seem to stay busy and thankful for our busyness. George did some patch up work this week…cracks in some of the walls….over at the blue house. He did a good job and I’ll get the house back in 100% order once we have a renter coming in. Currently we don’t have anyone for February…so why clean it?…but we do have some renters for part of March, April, May, and June. That’s at least encouraging and I keep praying we’ll get even more families needing a nice, comfortable home to stay in for whatever special occasion they’ll be in our area.
I talked with our son Clark yesterday and he said he drove 2,600 miles this past week…and he called it a vacation. He drove from Burlington, IA to the Port Arthur, TX area to bring Vanessa back home…she’d been visiting her family for the last several weeks. Once they left there, they went to Abilene, TX to visit my parents and that was a big treat for all of them. My parents were so pleased they came as it’s been several years since they had been together. After a few days in Abilene, they went to Atoka, TN…Memphis area…to visit with Scott, Allison, and the twins. He said the boys were so adorable and enjoyed seeing them for the first time. Didn’t say much about Scott and Allison, but I assume they were both fine and guess they can’t quite compare to the twins! Clark will fly out in the morning (Monday) to spend the week in Fargo, SD for work…will be in the negative degrees there so he’ll sure miss the warmth of Texas. Glad you had a safe trip, Clark, and happy you got to see so many different family members. Stay warm in Fargo!!
Tyler called today and said he came in 4th in his elementary school wrestling tournament. He was quite pleased and is now anxiously awaiting his 11th birthday next week. Each time I talk to him he adds one more thing to his birthday wish list. He’s a sweet boy and is so gifted musically…sure hope that will develop into something he’ll enjoy all his life. Ryan wrestled last Thursday and won 3 out of 4 matches he had and that was good…he’s missed most of the season due to the broken leg. I think he may make it to the state tournament in a few weeks. As for the others…Chase is now employed by the Brentwood, TN police department and currently attending their police academy. He’s really glad to have this job as that’s what he got his degree in and I wish him the best. Sean is still in the army, Chance is at WKU, Branden is working in Louisville, Lacey is still in college, Turner and Neyland are contemplating the ability to walk, and all Gabehart and Crockett kids are well and doing great in school. Life continues to be good for all of us and that’s such a blessing.
Here’s hoping everyone reading this will have a good week, lots of sunshine, and good health.
Blessings………
