Ever since we moved to Kentucky we have heard NEVER plant your spring flowers before Derby Day, which is the first Saturday in May. Well, last week I couldn’t wait and I planted some flowers at our house and the “blue house”. Wouldn’t you know it…we had a rather heavy frost last night, and now I’ll get to replant. Hopefully, they were not all ruined but I feel sure many of them were. I checked the long range forecast before I set the flowers out, it appeared to be OK and I couldn’t wait to get the flowers going, but I should have resisted. We had over 14 inches of rain in April…more than enough for the entire three months of spring…and I thought surely we wouldn’t have a late frost. Oh well, such is life in KY!
We had guest at the “blue house” last night, another group tonight, and then another family on Friday…lots of cleaning going on but we’re getting it down to an art and it really doesn’t take a lot of time since George and I work as a team. We have 15 days rented so far this month so we’re excited and willing to keep it going. We are thrilled to say that EVERYONE that has stayed there have been very complimentary…we even have some wanting to book for graduation NEXT year.
Time to do my laundry while I wait for our last night guest to leave so we can clean. The sun is shining today…only 34 right now…and we have more rain coming in this weekend just in time for the derby. Gotta love this spring!
Blessings…………
