We are finally getting some much needed rain with more on the way…since we have been in a drought all summer we can’t complain.  Of course the garage/barn can’t get finished, but we will just have to adjust to the delay. Now to get some rain in Atlanta or California to help them put out the fires.Â
We have friends from Louisville coming for the day tomorrow (Tuesday) and we’re excited about having them. Mike and Michelle have been special people in our lives for many years. Mike is the youth minister at OCC and he and George taught the jr/sr high kids together for several years. We’ll see what we can find to do since “Heavy” rain is being predicted for the entire day.Â
Ryan went back home yesterday so it’s been rather quiet around here today. He’s a good boy and was no trouble to have around. He worked for two days making a bow and arrow out of stuff he found in the back yard. He did a good job and is quite creative in getting it all together…it worked well and he could shoot the arrow quite a distance. He needed some feathers that he said would have made the arrow go even further, but we couldn’t find any…maybe he found some at home so he could complete his project. He wanted to kill a bird so he could pluck it but thankfully that didn’t take place. I don’t need PETA or Meredith hearing about that taking place in my backyard!Â
I haven’t mentioned Andrew Verble for awhile but we need prayers for him again. He continues to make progress, ever so slowly, but needs the help from a place in Texas that works with brain injury patients and has a very successful program in helping people make a full recovery…or a signifient recovery. The insurance company says “no deal” and wants to just send him home. He would make progress at home, but nothing in comparison to the Texas facality. He has good long term memory, trouble with short term memory, can feed himself, talks, but is still dependent on others for a lot of areas. He’s very determined to get back to normal and is fighting hard to do so. Please pray that he’ll be given the chance to become more self-sufficient and get the help needed only offered in Texas.
George put in a new ceiling light/fan in our living room today and it looks so nice. The other fans are so dated and I will slowly get them all replaced. Again, our home is looking really nice and we are quite settled. Of course, there’s still lots to do but it’s going at a much slower pace now. I do know I’m back to cooking most everyday…only eat out on Sunday. There’s only six restaurants in the entire town and none of them would be considered “Fine Dining”…paper plates and plastic forks. This is a college town and the restaurants are more for them than for the locals…pizza, Subway, Chinese, Mexican, and two sandwich places, one of which is in our only drug store.  I love eating out but it’s healthy for us to eat at home. At least we know what we’re eating and what’s really in the food…a lot of hidden calories and fat in restaurant food.
It’s only ten days until we go to Texas for a visit with my parents. We’re looking forward to seeing them, my brother and sister-in-law, and friends. We’ll only be there six day so we’ll cram a lot into a short time frame. It’ll be Thanksgiving before we know it and that will be a great time having all our kids here and most of our grandkids. Space will be limited but that won’t matter…I remember being in a small apartment over the Christmas holiday’s years ago that my parents were living in, along with my sister and her family, and we…all 15 of us…managed just fine. We do have rooms reserved at the Asbury Inn so if it gets to hectic we can go over there and use their parlor.
Have a great week. Don’t forget to pray for Andrew and that the insurance company will reconsider. His parents have really been on a roller coaster since last February.
Blessings…..
