George and I had a great day yesterday celebrating our 49th anniversary. We began the day with breakfast at the Keeneland kitchen…for those not familiar with Keeneland, it’s a race trace here in Lexington that mainly deals with training horses to race, horse sales, breeding (I think), and actual racing two months out of the year. A truly beautiful place!
Once we left there we headed to Cincinnati for a 12:30 ballgame…Reds vs. Cubs. We had great seats….never any shade and the temperature was 97 per a bank thermometer outside the stadium. To say it was HOT is an understatement!!! There was seldom a breeze but once your clothes got soaked with sweat, you felt better…didn’t look or smell so good, but it was better. It truly was a fun day even though it was so hot and the Reds came up short once more. We’re going back in July so it could be even hotter!
On our way home we stopped at a Bonefish Grill for dinner…we had dried out enough and it was early bird time so we assumed we wouldn’t be too offensive to any around…and had a fabulous meal. I had my usual scallop/shrimp dish with salad and fresh asparagus while George had a salad and some sort of spicy shrimp dish. Great, great meal!!! We got back home at a decent hour but we were both tired.
We have been so blessed with a good marriage…not every day has been a sunshiny day but worth all the effort to hang in there…and it’s hard to believe we’ve been married so long. George has blessed my life so much because of his commitment to God, me, and just being who God designed him to be. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for us and know it will be worth the ride.
Need to get busy. Stay cool, folks, and know that life can be a struggle but it’s so worth the effort to hang on! Love to all.
Blessings…..
