Well, can I say as I get started I still HATE yard sales? I do…always will…and will have NO more, EVER. Yesterday was the day for the Wilmore city yard sale…it was advertised in the Jessamine County newspaper, although we did not get around to having our address listed…and we (mostly George since I hate yard sales) worked for days getting ready for this special day. We made and hung signs on all the proper places and began the event.
Well…the day started out with fog and quite cool temperatures…yes it’s July but a light jacket was needed…and NO people to speak of showed up the first hour or so. The people finally started trickling in…most had teeth and seemed to be having fun…, the temperatures rose quickly, and we sold a grand total of $34.00…the Crockett’s $0…but Meredith with her cookies/lemonade stand and some stuffed animals sold $36.00. Our treasures really were junk in the eyes of the people, I guess. We packed up about 1 p.m. and headed to the Goodwill…the true beneficiary of all our treasures. We had to hurry and get to Versailles so we could watch Grayson play ball at 2 p.m. The day is now in the 90’s with no shade or breeze so we’re melting FAST but, we all managed to survive somehow. Once we got back home from a disappointing game, we took showers and headed out to spend our $34 on a good dinner. Therefore, all was not lost…Goodwill will prosper, we downsized at least a little bit more, and enjoyed a good meal at the end of the day. We even made some funny memories and I was able to read several chapters in the book I’m reading! But I still hate yard sales.
Have a great week everyone and be thankful you did not have to do a yard sale in the sweltering heat yesterday.
Blessings….
