Today was terrible hot and the humidity was beyond belief…set a record for the highest humidity recorded for this date…which brought on some tremendous thunderstorms. We got about 4 inches of rain in just a short period of time along with lots, and I mean LOTS, of lightning, LOUD thunder, and, at one point, some straight line winds. There was a house not far from us that was struck by lightning which caused it to catch fire…wasn’t destroyed but is damaged. There are a lot of tree branches and trees that were blown down, or stuck by lightning, all over town. In fact, our neighbors tree had a large limb come down on our fence and broke several boards…could have been a lot worse so we’re thankful…and now I’ll get to paint the new boards once George gets them fixed. Painting that fence has been a pain and now I’ll get to do some more.
Even though we had a really severe storm, we are very thankful for the rain and a little break in the temperatures and high humidity. Now if we can get some in the Abilene, TX area.
