Our Tuesday in New Orleans

We spent this day doing the seminar about the different personalities and why we do what we do in good times and during conflict.  We did this same seminar in Louisville back in the summer but I feel like I benefit from this one much more than the previous one.  It was good seeing the difference in those that are on staff here and it will definitely help in times of stress or conflict.  This is a fun seminar so take it if you get the opportunity.

Tomorrow we start our day with a 7 a.m. staff meeting.  Then we will do breakfast…dry cereal or oatmeal…and then we will be going to the property they think they will purchase, downtown to some property there, and I can’t remember what else is on the schedule.  Should be another full day.

We will be leaving here at 4 a.m. (CST) on Thursday for the long ride home.  I enjoy being with the people we are working with and I’m getting to know the wives a little better now that most of them are permanently living on site…some just moved here less than three months ago and will get to move again by the end of December.  This is truly a mission field and they all live like we imagine a missionary to live…with very little in the way of material goods, but they are seemingly happy most of the time.  There are several school age children here and they too seem to be happy with the living situation and living in a rather strange home for now.  This place use to be a church with a school and we work, and they live, in the school area.  We all eat together, etc. so it’s not the normal family life they once knew.  The main focus here is not the building of homes but in helping the people of New Orleans see Jesus displayed in the lives of those working here.  It’s a slow process but that’s just the way a mission field works, I guess.  The old saying is true…they don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

I will post again tomorrow if I get a chance.  Hope all of you reading this are well, warm, and doing something nice for someone else.

Blessings….
