We are having some really great weather currently…in spite of some rain…and it’s so refreshing. You just gotta love not having to use the AC!
Tyler is staying with us until Friday and he’s easy to have around. That is, until time to do his homework. He’s like most kids and fights having to do his work thoroughly. If he could just skim the reading part, answer the questions in a half hearted way, finish in less than an hour, he’d do fine. Unfortunately, he’s got a “mean” Mimi and and even meaner Mama so that just doesn’t fly. His healing is going well and for that we are most thankful. Tyler really is a good student but that doesn’t mean he enjoys homework!
Clark and Vanessa had a rather exciting trip back home on Sunday. They left here around 8:30 a.m. anticipating a 9 + hour uneventful drive home. Well, about 45 minutes into the trip, his battery light comes on so he pulls over and calls George to see if he could come get him and take him to get a new battery. Thank goodness they were only in Versailles…not far away…and a store was near by. Once the battery was bought and installed, they head out once again and get as far as Louisville. Again the battery light comes on and they are stuck in traffic trying to cross the Ohio River with no place to really pull over. Somehow, they were able to get off and head towards Sears to have a new alternator installed. This proved to be a really exciting adventure! Before they could get to Sears, Clark’s truck quits totally on one of Louisville’s busiest expressway exits. Clark is able to pull off onto the shoulder…remember he’s pulling a trailer with Branden’s car on it…and has to call a tow truck. Well, Branden’s car has to come off the trailer, the trailer has to be unhitched from Clark’s truck, so that he can be towed. This is definitely NOT a good thing! Clark had no concerns that the car would stay put, since it has considerable body damage, but he was concerned someone might steal the U-Haul trailer…with the way his day was going that was a real possibility and almost expected. Thank goodness the tow truck driver was a blessing in disguise. He towed Clark to Sears…a $70 tow fee…and then returned for the trailer and car…Clark said he had to make two trips to do this. Once he got these back to Clark, he hooked it all back up to Clark’s truck at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I gather that Sunday is NOT a good day to have an alternator installed…a $400 expense. Once they were finally back on the road, they had no more excitement and got home a little before midnight. As luck would have it, Clark had a 9 a.m. flight the next morning and will be out of town all week. Maybe he’ll have time to rest a bit this week. At least, one can hope he’ll find some time for rest!
George continues to take Dr. Galloway for his radiation treatment most mornings. I think he’s down to needing 6 more treatments and I know both will be glad when this is over. It’s been a long 8 + weeks and the Dr. is so weak from having so many done. We pray that this has removed all the cancer and Dr. Galloway can continue to do all he wants to do. He’s in his upper 80’s so I feel sure he won’t bounce right back but he’s determined to get back to life, and I have no doubt he will.
Guess I need to get some things done around here. Have a wonderful day and we’ll do the same.
Blessings………
