We had a great time at Natural Bridge State Park yesterday…in spite of the rain. We got to the park in the early afternoon and it was so dreary but we didn’t care. We got checked in and headed to our room to find a maintenance man enjoying one of his favorite TV shows while smoking his favorite brand of cigarettes in our room…our “NO SMOKING ROOM” now reeked of cigarette smoke. He said he’d be finished in a couple of minutes…was suppose to be doing some painting on the outside railing. Well, we told him that this situation just wouldn’t work out and we headed back to the front desk to get ourselves another room…I was the lucky one to go to the front desk and I stayed calm and friendly..no Arnold-Mae face was needed!. The staff was appalled and said that the crew is NEVER to smoke in any of the rooms. They call the guy, he said he had the balcony door open and he was almost finished painting…failed to mention his TV show was almost over. Anyway, we got another room and we aren’t sure what happen to the worker man.
The rain stopped shortly after our arrival and we took off for the hike to the Natural Bridge…little less than two miles round trip. It was a good hike and turned out to be a beautiful day. We took the long way back and it was steep in places with A LOT of man-made stairs. Can I say my legs were wobbly once we got all the way down and not appear to be a wimp? OK, wimp or not, they were wobbly and are now sore. Walking our Wilmore neighborhood just doesn’t compare to walking up/down the mountain side. A fun time regardless.
We got back in time for dinner and the salad bar was really good…George had the bar-b-que special sandwich plate that included the salad and dessert bars. There were not many people at the lodge, but that didn’t matter since we were now to tired to care about being social.  After a good night of rest, we headed for home this morning and have been busy most of the day.
We will get packed tonight for our trip to go see Clark & Vanessa in the morning. We’re looking forward to that and will be back home Monday night. We should be here for several weeks before we go anywhere else. Our next planned trip is to Texas for thanksgiving. Seems we’ve stayed busy the last few weeks and that’s always a good thing, I guess. At least we have the will, and the health, to do these fun things.
I won’t be taking my computer with us, so I won’t be back on here until next week. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy these great fall days. I find it so amazing to watch God’s handiwork as the trees are changing into their vibrant colors. I love our creator and I am thrilled to know that I, too, am one of his created beings…and that thrills my soul! Love to all.
Blessings….
