We had such a fun time with Linda and Jim this past weekend and the time just flew by. They got to our place Thursday evening…after a tour of some areas that were not on the map but they found Wilmore regardless…so we didn’t do anything that night. Friday morning we got up and got ready to head out…we ate breakfast at the Keeneland track kitchen before we headed over to Midway, KY to check out that quaint little town…along with several of their gift shops. After we completed our shopping experience, with NO purchases I might add, we headed to a neat little place for lunch and then back to Keeneland to watch some of the afternoon horse races. The horses are truly beautiful creatures God created. The people were ALMOST as interesting as the horses but not near as beautiful. The countryside in our area of KY is breath taking this time of year with the fall foliage, beautiful horse farms, blue skies, and warm weather…a perfect fall weekend was definitely enjoyed.
On Saturday morning we had breakfast at home and then headed over to Shaker Village to walk a trail that lead to a beautiful waterfall. Jim and Linda saw one deer…we missed it…but that was about the extend of any animals we saw. We did see a couple of horses but they weren’t wild so that doesn’t count. We enjoyed a light picnic lunch while there and we again had a spectacular day. We stopped by the Crockett’s that afternoon and then headed home for a corned beef dinner. The Crockett’s came over for dessert that evening so L & J got to have a good visit with all of them.
Then on Sunday morning they headed home as we headed to church. We so enjoyed their coming to visit and let’s hope it won’t be as long (3 years) before they will come back. We spent some of Sunday afternoon cleaning the blue house…we’d had a family there for a week so lots of laundry, etc…, raking leaves, and then got to enjoy a Korean dinner cooked by some of our Korean neighbors/friends. The meal was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with them. I find it interesting that these young couples include us in some of their activities. We are definitely respected and appreciated as the ELDERLY and that’s a very good thing. Our culture could sure learn some lessons from them!
Well it’s almost time to head back over to the blue house to clean once again…another family spent last night there and we have more coming in this afternoon. These next few weeks are booked solid and for that we are thankful. This has been our best month so far…24 days booked out of the 31.
Have a great week and look for another family member’s birthday to be celebrated tomorrow. Enjoy these fall days and let’s all count our blessings. We, as a country and as a person, are blessed so much and we take so much of it for granted. Is this part of the “entitled” mind set? Regardless, thanks to our Lord and Savior for blessing us!
Blessings…..
