Plans have changed…

Life continues to be full of surprises…some good and some not so good.  We will NOT be able to go to Florida again this year!  This makes me very sad but it just can’t be helped.  About two weeks ago, George broke his left foot and we have no idea as to how he did it.  He spent one week in a soft cast and a walking boot.  Well, he was re-checked on Thursday and the break had gotten worse so they put him in a hard cast, using crutches, and can’t put any weight on that foot for three (3) months…not a good option at all.  He talked with a orthopedic surgeon at church this morning and he wants to see George in the morning…always good to get that second opinion.  If they decide tomorrow that they will be doing the surgery, it will be done the next day (Tuesday) and he”ll have the “NO WEIGHT” on that foot for approximately 6 weeks.  Crutches are difficult and we sure don’t want him on them for three months so we’ve opted for the surgery.  Please keep him in your prayers and I’ll keep you updated as to what’s going on.

Tomorrow Tanya will be starting her new job at UK and she is looking forward to all that will offer her.  She worked hard to get the PNP degree and now it’s time for her to shine!  Good luck, Tanya, and may all your patients be pleasant and easy to work with…the kids will do fine but some of those parents may be another matter!

We had a fun two days these last two days.  Friday night we had about five seminary couples in, along with their children, to congratulate them on finishing up another semester at the seminary, wish them a Merry Christmas, and to tell them farewell as we were leaving for Florida tomorrow.  Won’t they be surprised to see we never left?  This was a fun evening and we are so blessed to have these young couples as friends.  They are all planning to do permanent mission work in various areas of the world when they complete their degrees.   May God continue to bless them as they make preparation to serve Him more fully each day.

Then yesterday we had our family Christmas…without any of the boys…and that was a fun time.  We missed having everyone together but because of distance that is a hard thing to accomplish.  All the grand-kids enjoy doing the “white elephant” gifts the best and there really was some wierd items this time.  Did you know they make men’s boxer shorts in a size 8X?  They were hugh!  We ate our dinner at the local Mexican restaurant…Wilmore doesn’t have any fine dining…so we all had plenty to eat…along with 3 boxes of left overs to bring home.  We had lots of punch, cookies, and candies when we got back to our house so everyone went home on a sugar high.  George and I seemed to have escaped the “sugar high” effects and went to bed and slept soundly!

Carter and Lori are to get back home tonight.  Lori’s maternal grandmother died unexpectedly this past week and was buried on Thursday.  Where she lived in South Dakota doesn’t have direct air line service, so it was a long trip both ways for Carter and Lori.  Love you Lori and I’m so sorry about your loss.  Focus on all the good memories and fun times you had while growing up with her in your life.

Time to clean the kitchen before it gets any later.  We are both doing well, other than the foot issue, and looking forward to a quiet winter at home with dreams of sand and wind in our faces.  Love to all!

Blessings………
