After a good meal of Mexican food last night with all the Gabehart’s, we headed to our Bible study with our friends in our small group.   We are always so encouraged each time we meet and study God’s word with this special group of people.  God is certainly at work within each of them. We left Wilmore about 4 p.m. and was home by 11 p.m. so it was a quick trip!
This morning we went into Lexington to work at the Lighthouse…another very rewarding experience. We got there a little before 9 a.m. and got busy making enough chili to serve 200, along with a couple of cakes. We had a full house today and they all seemed so appreciative of having a good lunch. We don’t actually have 200 people but we want plenty to go around. We did serve 100 +/- so everyone was able to have seconds…some got thirds which isn’t encouraged but no one says much as long as there’s plenty to go around. Tanya and her children also came down to serve and they all did a good job. This area of Lexington is a really rough area with lots of crack houses and lots of poverty. Most of the people that come for lunch live in the area but some are homeless and are just really hungry. Tomorrow is their Christmas party but we won’t be attending since we’ll have the Gabehart kids and won’t be available. We may be able to get in one more day of service before we go to Florida but we’ll just have to see if it can be worked in. Thursday will be here before I’m ready at the rate I’m getting things done.
Tomorrow we will go to Frankfort to get all four Gabehart kids for the night while Melissa and Byron go to her office party. Then on Sunday we will celebrate Ryan’s 13th birthday here…can’t believe he’s a teenager already…with the Crockett’s and a good dinner. That’s as close to a party as he’ll be getting from us. I think his parents will be planning something special so he’ll be honored in a big way, as usual.  Then I’ll have to start getting serious about locating all our stuff for Florida. Now where was it I saw the bathing suits?Â
May each of you reading this “Grandmother’s” blog have a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with opportunities to show Jesus to all those that cross your path each day.
Blessings……Â Â
