Our time with the folks is rapidly coming to an end but we’ve certainly enjoyed our time together. We got here Monday around 1 p.m. and didn’t do anything special that day except visit. Tuesday we went to see some of the blue bonnets…they really are pretty…and just rode around for a while to see the sights of Abilene. We also went to their old house…the people said for them to come by anytime at the closing… and I ask them if Mom and Dad could come in and just see it again. The new owners are so SWEET and were so inviting to the folks. The only thing they have done to the inside of the house is paint the walls…still has all the same wallpaper, carpet, etc. The front yard is the same but the back yard has been improved with a sidewalk from the patio to the gate and some other minor landscaping things done. It was good to have them see it but I’m sure it didn’t feel like home with all the different furnishings in it. Mom may have hated to leave that house, but she seems to be more spunky now that she is here at University Place…no longer has to do all those Suzy homemakers chores. After our sightseeing event, we came home and played a lot of 42 and we will just keep everyone guessing as who the winners were. Tomorrow we will do round two and you’ll just have to guess who wins those rounds.
Today was a rather relaxing day and I guess our biggest accomplishment was taking some of Mother’s winter clothes to storage and getting more of her summer clothes in her closet. J.T. and Lou came over for a few hours so it was nice visiting with them. They never change much and live a really busy life keeping up with all their kids, grand kids, and great-grand kids…along with planting a big garden and mowing 5 acres of land.
Tonight we took Mom and Dad to Red Lobster for their early birthday and anniversary dinner. They both had a lobster plate that included a Caesar salad, two (2) lobster tails, pasta with a creamy lobster and shrimp sauce, broccoli, and those yummy rolls. George and I had the surf and turf and to say we were all stuffed is putting it mild! It was good evening and I’m glad we were able to help them celebrate these special dates with a favorite meal at a favorite restaurant.
Tomorrow will be our last day here and we don’t have any plans other than just spending some time together. They are both amazing for being “almost” 93 and we pray their remaining years will be good ones. University Place may not be a first choice but it really is the best choice and we couldn’t ask for sweeter neighbors and staff. Lovely, lovely place! Where else can you eat every two hours 24/7?  Just kidding but the meals do seem to come around really fast every day.
Time for bed so I’m saying “good night”. Have a great rest-of-the-week! Pray for our safe travels as we head to Atoka on Friday to spoil those precious twins for a couple of days…along with Lorin and Patsy as they travel to Murray and Nashville from Milwaukee. Love to all!
Blessings……..
