Friday at the beach

After our morning walk/run, etc. we finally headed to the beach for some fishing and sunning.  We had to make a stop at Wal-Mart so George could once again buy a bait bucket…this is a yearly tradition since we always forget the one we had bought the previous year…and wouldn’t you know it..Wal-Mart was sold out!  While we were in the store, the clouds began rolling in and by the time we did get to the beach the sunshine was well hidden.  That was OK because it was just good being there.  We were still going to enjoy the sounds and smells of the beach and I had my book, food, and a good chair, so all was definitely not lost.  After about an hour, the winds picked up and it started getting rather cool.  George tried his luck at fishing but finally figured out he didn’t have any today.  So we packed up our stuff and headed to the van ready to go back to the house.  Just as we were getting ready to leave the beach area, the sun broke out again but we came on back to the house anyway.  I did go down to the boat dock but didn’t stay long as it was getting late in the day for sunning.  Tomorrow is another opportunity even though there is a chance of rain in the afternoon.

I’ve started reading a book yesterday by Liz Curtis-Higgs called “The Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible” and it’s another enjoyable book.  Liz is a Louisville lady with a truly amazing testmony about how she found the Lord…she’s also a fantastic teacher and lecturer.  I have really enjoyed being in classes, or lectures, she’s taught while I was living in Louisville.  She’s quite humorous in her presentation and the one class I attended for a six weeks period was by far the best ladies class I have ever attended.  If you’ve never read any of her novels, or Biblical material, I’d suggest you do so.  It’s well worth your money and time to read whatever you bought written by her.

Francine Rivers is by far my favorite Christian author and she has some wonderful books available…one of her best is “Redeeming Love”.  Once you start that one you can’t put it down!  Part of the joy of being in Florida is the opportunity to read for hours without being disturbed.  I’ve read five books in the 12 days we’ve been here…”Velvet Elvis” by Rob Bell, “The Gift” by Richard Evans, “3:16”by Max Lucado, “A Match Made In Dry Creek”by Janet Tronstad, and “To Love Again” by Bonnie K. Winn…each author is a Christian so they are all good books.

We’ll be going to some of the local art and craft fairs tomorrow…two are available but we may only take in one of them…I’m sure George will have some pictures to post of some of the treasures available.  These don’t compare to the ones at Geezerville, but the are all very unique of Florida decor…they look silly in KY but would look OK here, I guess.

The end of January is when one of our favorite art fairs is held and, let me assure you, that’s real art with real art prices.  It’s in Sarasota in the St. Armands area and they have really top knotch stuff.  I can’t afford anything there, but I sure enjoy looking at most of it.

I read a thought today that has really stuck with me…If you believe in nothing, you can believe anything.  How is our thinking being influenced by the thoughts and actions of others?  Where do your thoughts and opinions come from?  Give it some thought!

Blessings……..
