A foggy Saturday morning

It’s another foggy, cloudy, and muggy day in Port Charlotte, but I’m optimistic the sun will eventually shine again.  It is warm, however, but I miss the sun and going to the beach!

We went to see the movie the “Kite Runner” yesterday evening and we were both disappointed.  The book was so much better than the movie so if you want to see the movie GO, but read the book later.  I think it would have been a decent movie if we’d seen it before we read the book.  The film makers just didn’t capture the meat of the book.  Oh well, we enjoyed getting out.

We by-passed the “Geezerville” breakfast this morning, which is a first since we found it.  I guess we just didn’t have the stomach for all the treasures available and, since no one has sent us their list of items they want to purchase, we just didn’t go. ..George’s blog has pictures of some treasures if you need to be refreshed on what’s available.  Maybe we’ll be up to it in two weeks when it’s once again available…so send your list!  These are items I know you will never find anywhere else!

We have been invited to dinner tonight in the home of Pat and Clay Landes and we know we will enjoy that.  They are very nice people we met several years ago at church.  They are permanent residence in Bradenton and our homes are about 60 miles apart, but we have nothing better to do than go.  Besides, we want to get to know them better.  Last year when we were here, Pat’s 92 year old mother was baptized and it was such a sweet experience to watch…she’s now in a nursing home with fading mental capacity due to a stroke.

Gary and Dianne Smith will be here on Monday for the night and we’re excited about having them.  We could only get them for the one night as they have other places to go before their vacation ends.  Again, we take what we can get and enjoy the time just being together as friends…hope the sun will shine that day!

Today is the birthday of my very good friend FRANCES RICHARDSON.  She will have to tell you how old she is because I want her to remain my very good friend…it is a BIG one however!  Happy Birthday, Frances, and I miss and love you!

Congratulations to our grandson, Ryan, on completing his science project on time and getting a “near perfect” grade on it…not sure what “near perfect” means but he’s pleased.  He’s a very talented guy when it comes to science so I’m sure God can use him in that area someday.  Have I ever mentioned that all my grandchildren are very talented?  If I haven’t, they are!

Carter and Lori had a great honeymoon and are now back home.  Their flight home from Hawaii was an adventure due to cancelled flights, etc. but they did finally make it back to Birmingham safe and sound…took close to 24 hours!  I can only imagine how tired they were with all the different flights, airports, plus the jet lag that happens on a trip like that.  You can be miserable for several days!  Carter sent us some pictures via the Internet and that certainly is a beautiful part of the world.

Clark has re-entered the academic world and is now back in college.  He started this past week.  It will be a struggle at times because of the many hours he puts in at work.  I wish him nothing but the best and know he will do well but will be glad when it’s all done.  He’s very smart and I’m sure he will have an entirely different attitude about classes this go ’round.  Maturity does put things in perspective!

Nothing else to write about so enjoy your weekend!

Blessings…..
