Mom and Dad leave in the morning for home and this has been a wonderful week. We really haven’t done a lot but we did enjoy just being together. They came in LATE last Tuesday night. On Wednesday we went to the beach for a couple of hours after having lunch in Boca Grande. The water was so pretty and we really enjoyed being there. Thursday Teresa came over and then we began my birthday celebrating which didn’t end until Friday night. Saturday was just a lazy day. On Sunday we went to church, lunch, and then came home for a couple of hours…I fished off the boat dock during this time and caught a really nice snook…before we went to Teresa and Richard’s for dinner. They really have a sweet family. Then today Teresa came back over and since she and Mother had never fished we again headed to the boat dock. Both she and mother caught some nice catfish plus some other kind of fish…dad caught a couple also. I caught another nice snook again this afternoon.  I had a good laugh today when mother had a big fish hit her line and really bent her pole over. Being as she’s not experience in fishing, she let out a blood thirsty scream before she started reeling in her line. By this time the fish had broken her line and was gone. The look on her face when she screamed was priceless…I still laugh when I think of it. We were all thrilled when she caught her first fish today and it only took 88 years for her to have this pleasure. We also went back to the beach this evening to watch the sunset…it’s was pretty but not a spectacular one. It was good just hearing the waves, watching the birds dive for fish, people watching, and again reflecting on God and his creations.
The weather has been nearly perfect all week, so that was good, we’ve enjoyed lots of good food both from home, restaurants, and Teresa’s, and we have enjoyed playing Texas 42 most every day and as of now we are tied. Maybe we will have time to play tonight to determine who the champs are!
We’re meeting George’s cousin, David Page and his wife Sophia, for dinner tomorrow night. We always enjoy being with them and catching up on what’s going on with all of the different family members. Friday we are going with Ron and Jean to the Kennedy Space Center and that will be a really full day…it’s a 3.5 hour drive from here to there and we’ll meet them around 6 a.m. It’s something we’ve thought about doing on other years we were here but never seemed to get around to doing it…so, this is the year! Our days are getting numbered and it will be time to head for KY soon…hope all that snow that’s falling there right now will be gone by March 1.
Rest well, stay warm, and pray for mom and dad to have a safe and uneventful travel day tomorrow. We will be leaving here for the Ft. Meyers airport around 8:45 a.m. in the morning. The folks will then fly out of there at 10:55 a.m. (EST) and don’t get to Abilene until 5:08 p.m. (CST)…long day with that three hour layover in Dallas which can turn into a longer layover should DFW so decide.Â
Will be back again tomorrow.
Blessings……..
