Congratulations Ryan

We had a great time the last couple of days and going to the Quick Recall State Tournament is not boring at all.  I had been told it would be right up there in the same category as watching paint dry, but it’s not.  I am amazed at the knowledge these middle school students have and how quickly they can recall things.  If there’s any hesitation at all when answering a question, it would be considered wrong…so, they really do have to have a quick recall!  Ryan and his team from Newburg Middle made it to the semi-finals and ended up being #7 in the state, which is quite an accomplishment.  Since there are thousands of middle schools in the state of KY, being #7  is something to really be proud of!  Most kids hate to show they are smart, but in that situation they love showing their smarts.  Way to go Ryan!!!

We spent the night at Melissa and Byron’s on Sunday night and it was fun being with all of them.  If fact, Madi and I had a “sleep over”…we shared her twin bed for a good nights rest.  She’s so sweet and really misses her Mimi and Papa.

Monday was a busy day with the tournament going on, working in a dental appointment to take care of a crown that had a high spot, taking an elderly friend to lunch, going to the “long” awards ceremony, dinner with the Gabeharts, and then meeting with our small group for our bi-monthly Bible study.  We were tired when we got back to Wilmore…around 11 p.m. since our day started around 6 a.m.  Glad we’re still young enough to enjoy days like that…can’t do it too many days in a row, but we do enjoy the occasional ones.

Linda and Jim…my sister and brother-in-law…will be here tomorrow for a couple of days and we’re excited about that.  Of course, it’s suppose to rain most of the time they will be here, but we’ll still do some fun stuff.  I’m having the Crockett’s join us for dinner tomorrow night so they can spend some time with them.  We’re hoping to go to Shakertown which is only 12 miles from here.  It’s an interesting place to visit and see how the shakers lived and worshiped…it’s also a good place  to eat a good meal.

Sunday is Easter and we’re planning a big celebration, dinner, and Easter egg hunt at the park close to Tanya’s.  We’re just hoping the rain will stop in time for the ground to dry up a little bit…we’re having rain several days every week and we really don’t need any more for a while.  Of course, in July/August, we’re be back to praying for rain.  Sad how we’re…maybe it’s just me…never satisfied with all the things God blesses us with each day.

Got to get back to watching Idol.  By the way, my mother says she’s feeling some better and her pneumonia is just about gone.  Thanks to all of you that have prayed for her…keep it up, please, until she’s completely back to normal.

Blessings……
