Our July…

Our July here in central Kentucky was, by far, one of the most pleasant ones in years!  We had over 9 inches of rain, much cooler than average temperatures for most of the month, and all the plant life is still flourishing.  Thank you, Lord and your graciousness is most appreciated.

Yesterday we went to Louisville to see our sweet friend, Patty, as she is in her final stages of pancreatic/liver cancer.  She has fought a good fight, lived several years beyond what her doctors told her, and has never wavered in her faith.  She is tired and now ready to see Jesus.  She will be missed by all of us that loved her but we, also, rejoice that she will no longer be suffering.  Love you sweet lady!

We also got to spend a little time with Melissa, Kyle, Tyler, and Madi…Ryan wasn’t available and Byron was at work…and that was fun.  The kids are growing up so fast and each of them are taller than we are…but that’s not saying much, is it?  School starts for them in a couple of weeks and I feel sure that will be a welcome change of pace for each of them…from high to higher gear!  Kyle and Tyler are already getting ready for fall ball (baseball) and Madi is in training for both volleyball and track.  Ryan heads to UofL later this month and that’s the one to experience the biggest changes in his life.  The empty nest is beginning at the Gabehart household!!  That’s sad but that’s what we want for our children…fly baby fly!

We are getting excited about our trip to Texas and know that will be a busy time for us all.  It will be fun being with all the family for the first time in many years and I have doubts any conversation will get completed but, hopefully, many games of 42 will be played!  Victoria has finished her bar exams and I feel certain she did well as she’s always excelled in academics…now on to the wedding!  This next week will be full of finishing touches getting done, emotions running high, and the grand ending to the week will be “the wedding”!  More on this when we return home.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will do the same.  We are now  headed to the blackberry patch to pick another gallon of berries…if there are still some left.  We already got one gallon last week but thought another one would be better.  I don’t eat them…to many seeds that like to  lodge in my teeth…but George sure loves them.  Enjoy the day and love to all.

Blessings…….
