We had a great time with Ron and Jean this past week! It’s a rather long drive from Wilmore to Overland Park, KS….an area of Kansas City…but our time together made it all so worth it. While there we visited a World War I museum…very interesting…, the Arboretum of Overland Park…beautiful…., played cards, ate at some really good restaurants, enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal one evening, and solved most of the problems of the world. Thankful for these sweet friends and we’re looking forward to seeing you again before long. Maybe in Florida!!!
Yesterday we went to our very first UK football game and they actually won! Of course, they were playing Miami of Ohio so it wasn’t a great challenge but this next game against UofL ought to bring them to their knees. While coming home from KS, George was listening to the UK radio station and they were selling season tickets to the UK games and then giving you tickets to “midnight madness”…opening of the basketball season…so he jumped right on that deal. It was a rather HOT day but, also, lots of fun. Our seats are on the edge of the “nose bleed section” and I really like them as you can see how the plays are played out. UK doesn’t have a lot of football fans…only basketball counts around here…but they do have a LOT of party fans! The tailgater’s were plentiful! A fun day, for sure.
Not much happening this week but I feel sure we’ll be busy doing something. My first real project is to clean this dusty house! How so much dust can accumulate in just five days with no one here is amazing. I do have some other projects going on that include yarn and George always has something going that involves wood so we’ll not be bored. We both enjoy our crafty projects!
We’re counting the days…13 to be exact…until we’ll be headed to Florida to spend some time with Carter and Lori, and her parents. We’ve met her parents some time back and this will be fun getting to know them even better…very nice people.
Must go and get myself ready for church. Have a great week, stay cool, and pray for Ronnie…Jim’s brother…as he’s still having issues with his heart. Love to you all.
Blessings…….
