George has worked hard on the deck again this morning and it’s looking great. There’s still some things that need to be done before it’s complete but it’s usable now. It needs the lower trim work, rails, and then it will need to be power washed and stained. We’ll have to have a plumber come and run a line for the grill, since it’s a natural gas grill, and then we’ll be set for a bar-b-que. It sure has changed how the back of our house looks.
Melissa and Byron were here yesterday to help and we’re very thankful for that. Byron has built a lot of decks when they were in the construction business, so he knew all the tricks. George had built a deck for us once before which was a lot bigger, so he knew pretty much what to expect. We kept all four of the Gabehart kids so they could feel like they got to go somewhere for spring break. They will be going home tomorrow afternoon…at least that’s the plan. They have been a pleasure to have around and we’ve had very few problems so far…they were warned by their Mother that if they were a problem they’d have to go home immediately. Now wouldn’t that be a warm and fuzzy “welcome home”? They do have an abundance of energy at times but nothing we’re not able to handle. I will admit this was all a lot easier 30 years ago but I’m so thankful we’re given these “memory making” times with grand kids.
We heard that Lacey got to shadow some EMT’s and even got to go to an actual fire the other day. She hopes to become a professional firefighter and EMT when she gets out of college. She’ll do well with this since she has no fear of anything and able to handle most anything. Way to go Lacey!!!
Mom and Dad enjoyed having Scott and Allison for a couple of days…here’s hoping you had a fun anniversary celebration after you left Abilene! Can’t wait to hear about all the fun stuff you got to do at the various places you visited. Thanks for visiting the grandparents…it meant a lot to them.
Jerod is sick again and was tested today for mono. He has been feeling tired a lot lately, runs a fever off and on, headaches, and just feels yucky. He’s suppose to go on a field trip Friday to Columbus, Ohio with his academic team and we’re sure hoping he’ll be up to going. This trip is to a museum and they will actually be spending the night inside the museum…Daniel will be going with him and I know he’ll love sleeping on the floor! Oh what we do for our kids!
Tomorrow is suppose to be another beautiful day and on Friday morning heavy rain is returning. Yuck! We’re still not dried out from the last rainy spell. We’re thinking about going over to Shakertown in the morning to walk that trail again…hopefully, the creeks won’t be deeper than they were last time.  I’m not even sure this is something I want to do since I feel sure the creeks will be a lot deeper, etc. and the kids don’t have but the one pair of shoes with them…Madi only has flip flops! We’ll see.Â
Have a good evening.
Blessings……..
