Fun time in Atoka

We had a great time visiting Scott and Allison this past week-end.  We got to there home on Thursday evening, went out for bar-b-que once they got home or finished with work…very enjoyable…then came back to the house and just bummed out.  On Friday we got up early and headed to Reel Foot Lake…about 1 1/2 hours from them…and rented a pontoon boat for a day of fishing.  Well, the fish won this day.  We all caught something but nothing worth keeping.  Allison did get a large catfish but it broke her line before she could get it in.  We all caught a lot of lilly pads…the lake is very shallow…and when we got closer to the shore line we all managed to catch some trees.  I laughed a lot which wasn’t always appreciated.  In fact, I told Scott he’d never invite me to go fishing again but he said he would…with Clark!  Isn’t he sweet to want to share!   On Saturday George and Scott fished the lake in the subdivision and they caught some real fish…check photo on George’s blog…while Allison and I went shopping.  Once we all got back to the house, we headed to Memphis and Beale Street…lots of action there even in the afternoon…lots of fun seeing the sights.  Sunday we went to church then to a very good brunch with Allison’s family…good seeing them again…and then headed for home.  The time with Scott and Allison was great and we appreciated the hospitality.

Today I did some laundry, painted on the fence some more…will finish it tomorrow, hopefully…and went to see Grayson, Blake and Jerod play ball.  Grayson’s team came up short, but Blake and Jerod won their game.  In fact, the bottom of the last inning we were behind by three runs when Jerod got up to bat and hit a perfect home run driving in two runs…now only one run behind.  The game became tied and Blake comes up to bat…two strikes and 1 ball when he hits a single driving in the winning run.  They beat the #1 team 10-9.  It was Jerod’s second home run this season and Blake’s second or third time to drive in the winning run.  Needless to say, it was very exciting and his parents were so proud.  Way to go boys!!!

We’re going to dinner with some new friends tomorrow night and we’re looking forward to getting to know Walt and Mary better.

George will be having another birthday Wednesday…got some dinner ideas but he’s a hard one to buy for.  I’ll think up something…so he’ll have something to open and then return.  He’s a jewel of a man and has kept me entertained for almost 48 years…two years of “courting” and almost 46 married.  Makes us sound OLD.

Have a great week.

Blessings………
