Florida has lost the sun…

I realize I will get NO sympathy from any of you that read my blog, but it is cool here in Florida.  Of course, our cool here would be a very welcome relief to everyone else.  We have been gone from home for a week and I have yet to be able to soak up some sun.  We have had some sunny days but because of the wind, and/or actual temperature, it just isn’t happening.  Oh well, I have three more weeks to get some tan so come on sun…shine, shine, shine.

Yesterday we went to the pier to walk, even though it was quite windy and cool, and that was a good thing to do.  We walked the pier once, then made a loop around the lake area, then back to the pier…approximately 2 miles.  While on our second loop on the pier, we noticed a young man catching a fish.  He finally got it to where we could all see what was on his line and it was a shark.  It was fun watching how they get one in from being so high off the water…they lasso it with a metal loop then pull it up…and it was about a 5 foot shark.  They tackled it once it was on deck, removed the hook,  and took lots of pictures…even his dad (?) wanted his picture with it…and then threw it back in the water.  Lots of sharks have been caught off that pier which is next to a restaurant called “Sharkey’s” Imagine that!  That’s a great restaurant, too.  We ended our day by going to the jetty and watching the surfers and the setting sun…beautiful ending to another good day.    Life is good on the beach.

We enjoyed getting to spend some time with Ron and Jean on Wednesday and look forward to even more fun days with them.  We’ve also heard from another couple from the Central Church and we’re making plans to meet up with them soon.

This house we have rented is very, very nice and roomy.  It’s in a neighborhood and convenient to lots of stuff.  We’ve even been to Lowe’s a couple of times…George’s home away from home in Wilmore…picking out different stuff for our kitchen that is being updated while we’re down here.  We are having new counter tops, sink, faucets, back splash, dishwasher, and flooring put in and some of the stuff we selected before we left home was far more expensive than we wanted to pay for.  It will be a nice “welcome home” once we see the finished results…at least, we’re hoping it’ll be a nice “welcome home”.  The contractor is a friend and that’s his company doing the work, so I know it will be done well and like we said…hopefully!

Have a good day, stay inside and stay warm, and continue to pray for my folks.  They are improving and working hard but it’s such a slow process and gets discouraging at times.  We will be praying for you all that are in the frigid weather to remain safe…even our feral cat.  I hope she’ll survive since we are not around to let her warm up.  Love to you all.

Blessings….
