After a very emotional last few days, we are currently sitting in the Love Field Airport waiting for our flight back to Venice, Florida. Â It was hard leaving my daddy, as he looks so lost and sad, but he will have to go on…even without the support of all the family. Â He is still confused as to where HOME will be but with the help of Lawrence and Lorin, that too will be decided. Â He so much wants to just go and be with mother, but we’ll just have to wait upon The Lord as He’s the only one that knows the number of his days. Â Mother did tell her best friend, Marie, that she did not want to live if she could not walk again…two days before her death…so God said OK come on home.
Mother’s funeral service was very good and Terry Brown did a fantastic job of telling things about mother’s life that we will all cherish for the remainder of our lives. Â The Hillchrest Singers did an outstanding job and you just can’t top GOOD accapella singing…BEAUTIFUL!!! Â It was hard watching them close that casket but mom had been gone for several days so we just said our final goodbye to her ‘shell’. Â She looked pretty in her gown/robe…looked like she was truly sleeping…but she was so cold and hard. Â Â Rest, sweet mother, and we’ll see you when we, too, get the call.
It was good being with family that I haven’t had the pleasure of being with for lots of years. Others from south Texas would have been there but couldn’t make it due to the ice storm that came to them the day before the funeral. Â Regardless, we all were comforted, blessed, and got to rejoice that mother is no longer in pain and is back to walking…but with The Lord this time.
Have a great week and I’m going to be praying hard that all the freezing cold, ice, snow, and even the slush is gone by the time we get back to Kentucky on Friday afternoon. Â Thanks to each of you that have expressed your love and kindness to us this last week. Â Mother would have been proud of all the love shown to each and everyone of us.
