Here it is Friday night and it was a very busy day. Melissa and her four came for a visit on Thursday…Byron was away on business with UPS…to help their cousins celebrate the end of their school year. Well, it didn’t go quite as planned due to other commitments that came up but we did get to make a run to Bruster’s…a ice cream place…before the day was over. They all seemed to enjoy that.
Today the Crockett kids had their swim practices but once those were over the kids got to get together and play. They really seem to enjoy being together. Then about 5 p.m. Melissa headed back to Louisville…thank goodness it’s only a 1 1/2 hour drive. She’s one busy lady but seems to be able to keep up…at least most of the time.
We had a friend, Tracy Redmon that happens to be our financial advisor, from Louisville come for a visit and dinner this afternoon. Tracy is a really sweet person and one we enjoy doing business with. She and Daniel worked together at American Express when we were all living in Louisville, so we’ve known her for several years. We, along with the Crockett’s, enjoyed a good meal together that was followed by a game of “Fast Scribble”. Tracy won tonight much to the anguish of some of the more competitors…Daniel for one!
Summer has really hit Kentucky. It’s been in the low 90’s most of this week, which is really more like our July/August temperatures. Now I’m beginning to wonder why we fussed about all those cold days we had back in April/May? Guess we can never be satisfied!
For all you “garage sale” lovers…Wilmore is one of the locations on the 400 mile garage sale going on this weekend. Can you imagine all the treasures you could find in a 400 mile radius? Glad I will miss it.Â
Tomorrow evening will be the first summer concert here in Wilmore and we’re looking forward to checking it out. It’s a Big Band concert so it ought to be a good one. They have something different most every weekend throughout the summer…another perk for living in a small town. These are all family gatherings, free, and outside. Hopefully, it will cool off by the time they start because it’s suppose to be another day in the 90’s. In fact, this heat is expected to last throughout next week!Â
Sunday is our 46th anniversary and we’re going to go to Louisville to celebrate. George has made plans for us to stay at one of the local hotels and, I’m sure, a nice dinner that evening. He always does something special for all our special days! We’re going to go to church at Okolona that morning and I’m looking forward to seeing some of the elderly members there that have been so sweet to me for so many years. I know it will be different because we will now be “visitors” and that will seem strange, but I still look forward to being there.
Here it is 11 p.m. and I’m tired so guess I’ll run for now. Have a great weekend and I’ll be back soon.
Blessings….
