Well, we survived our day working at the Ichthus festival and we’re both bone tired. We got up at 6:15 a.m. so we could leave the house by 7:30 a.m…I did a load of clothes and emptied the dishwasher before leaving the house. They wanted us there by 7:45 a.m. but they didn’t seem to be real organized once we all arrived…at least in the sales section. We just sort of stood around for the next 1 1/2 hours before the booths opened up and we were assigned something to do. As luck would have it, I didn’t get a booth so I got to pick up trash…now isn’t that worth getting up for? By 10 a.m. I did have a booth and was selling CD’s for an artist by the name of Warren ___field (?)…can’t recall his last name. I could hear his concert and he was very talented, therefore, I sold lots of CD’s. Many people ask me which of his CD’s was the best, and since I had never heard of the guy, I said they were all good! I hope they are but I doubt I’ll ever listen to much of his music. It’s more for the YOUNG people, if you get my drift! About 1 p.m. I took a short lunch break and then headed back for a new assignment…my booth closed as the artist had to get to Ohio for another concert. Again, back to picking up trash while it was getting hotter and more humid by the minutes. We had a short rain shower with some wind but nothing serious…just a lot more humidity. Now I’m assigned to sell some beaded jewelry…be generous and call the stuff jewelry…that the kids all like and it will hopefully last until they get home on Sunday. We are now getting really hot with even higher humidity and now the wind begins to blow. Well, all of a sudden, part of our tent, which is one of the larger tents up, begins to collapse. We are told to evacuate immediately…now that didn’t take a brain surgeon to know to leave when your tent is coming down…so I grab the money bag and head for the opening. It’s really a serious rain now with lots of lightening, thunder, and wind. George and I finally find each other and we start walking for home…the rain had slacked up a bit by this time so we felt sure we could make it out OK. By this time, the Ichthus festival seems to be in complete panic! People are running everywhere. Since most that are attending the festival are staying in tents and campers on the grounds, they were just trying to get “home” and out of the rain since we couldn’t go back in the big tents. Now I can’t just leave for home with the money bag I rescued, so I’m trying to find someone to leave it with when I see the lady that I reported to for my assignments. She’s in a complete panic mode by this time screaming at everyone to take cover at the main stage that is suppose to have a safety shelter…I helped her panic mode stay high by giving her the guys money…and we start walking for home. George called Tanya to meet us at the gate closest to her home, so we didn’t have too far to walk. Now the gates are all closed and no one is allowed inside so more confusion, etc. with people trying to pick up their kids or whoever they came after…more panic mode setting in. We got out safe and sound but rather wet. It was a good day, I’m glad we participated and would be willing to do it again. The people were all nice, patient, and they are there to worship God through this avenue…Christian music!
Tyler stayed with the Crockett’s last night and all day today and he enjoyed playing with his cousins. He goes home tomorrow and I think he’s ready to see his family but sad to be going home. He’s a sweet boy and we’ve enjoyed having him.
The little league championship game was rained out tonight. It will be played tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. and we need everyone to continue to cheer for the RANGERS. Should they not win, another game will have to be played next week and we really don’t want to do that.
Have a great weekend, celebrate Father’s day in a special way on Sunday, and look for the good in all you encounter.
Blessings……..
