Beautiful Day

The last couple of days have been perfect…mid to upper 70’s with low humidity. ..absolutely WONDERFUL.  It sure feels good after all the storms, damaging winds, heat, and high humidity of last week.  These perfect days are suppose to last through next Wednesday…THANK YOU LORD!!!

George and I went to The Lighthouse today to help serve lunch and there was a full house…125 +/- men and women and two very precious babies.  The people served seem so appreciative and I always feel blessed by  having the opportunity to serve them.  Not all of them are homeless, while most are just very poverty stricken and just need a helping hand.  This meal is most likely the only one they will have…most definitely the only hot meal.  Some have trouble with substance abuse, mental illness, and neglect;  but no one appeared intoxicated, etc.  Some like for you to visit with them, while others don’t want you to even speak to them.  We honor whatever they want.  Regardless of their circumstances, they are a child of God’s, deserves to be loved and accepted, and just maybe they will see Jesus in us.

Since we were in Lexington, we ran by the mall to pick up a birthday gift for Kyle…he’ll be 12 on July 2…and any trip to town is incomplete without a trip to Kroger’s or Wal-Mart.  Therefore, I did some grocery shopping at Kroger’s and we’re again set for a few more days.  George picked up a slab of pork spare ribs while there…we always spend more money when he’s in Kroger’s…and that’s what he grilled out for our dinner tonight.  Very good!

George is currently with our next door neighbor man helping him learn English.  They came to the U.S. about four years ago and are having some trouble with our language.  They are friendly and we’re hoping they will come for dinner tomorrow night.  George hopes to learn some Russian from them…my goal is just to understand them.  He doesn’t ever say much to me but his wife will.

Have a blessed week and continue to pray for those in Iowa.  Clark said they are still OK but if the levee breaks his workplace will be 12 feet under water. ..their home sits on one of the highest points in Burlington.   Scary days!!!  I’ve seen this type of damage in New Orleans, and it’s a horrible place for anyone to be.

Please pray for Allison’s…Scott’s wife…mother as she had colon surgery yesterday and they removed a tumor but said everything else looked good.  They won’t get the lab results until Thursday or Friday.  Of course, tumor is scary since it could mean cancer but we’re praying it isn’t.

Today is Buddy’s birthday and I know he’s excited about getting 50 + cards from the people at their church.  He’s so special and is quite the charmer.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!!!

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Blessings………
