On Wednesday morning we left home and headed towards Atoka to visit with Scott, Allison, Neyland, and Turner. They are all doing well, and the boys are beyond description. Both boys are super smart, cute, and so very well behaved. George and Scott tried to fish for a little while on Wednesday afternoon while the boys and I walked around the lake. Scott was the only one that caught a fish and that made the boys proud. Of course, when little boys commence to throw rocks in the lake while the men are fishing it does seem to hamper the success of the fishermen. Regardless, all had fun and it was a beautiful day.
We spent all day Thursday riding to Abilene…11 hours…and went straight to Dad’s place upon arriving. Daddy is doing well but still missing mom so much. He teared up a couple of times…when he mentions how much he’s missing her…but he’s doing well health wise. We walked to where his mailbox was and he had to stop and rest twice so his legs are not doing so great. I ask him about his exercising them but never got a very good answer…I would say he’s doing the exercises somewhere between zero and once a week. We’re going to the cemetery today, plan to stop over and see Mary at UP…one of mother’s good friends…,and we’ll end our day having dinner out with Lorin and Patsy before we watch the UofL/KY basketball game. The weather is warm…91 when we got here yesterday, but only 80 is expected for today. That sure beats the 30’s back in Wilmore! All in all, it should be a busy day.
I’ll write more when I know more. Keep praying that daddy will find comfort and peace. He basically just sits in his room except for his meals, and that would depress anyone! He chooses to not interact with the others, but he knows his memory is bad and he doesn’t want to embarrass himself…my guess of why he doesn’t interact, plus he’s not the social person mom was. He doesn’t realize that most of the others living there are in the same boat he’s in!
Enjoy your day…love to you all.
Blessings……
