We are once again back home after a whirlwind week of traveling. We spent Sunday night in Texarkana and then drove on into Atoka on Monday in time to go to lunch and the zoo with Allison, the twins, and all the Crockett’s. Memphis has a really nice zoo and we all enjoyed our time there. After the zoo, we met Scott at a good restaurant in Atoka before we headed to Dairy Queen…I was to stuffed from my burger to eat more but the others seemed to enjoy their treat. Turner and Neyland LOVED being with their cousins…especially Grayson…and played so hard. In fact, they wore themselves out!!!
Tuesday morning…George, Dan, Jerod, and Blake headed to the neighborhood lake for a little fishing. George only had a little time there since we were headed to Franklin to see Carter and Lori, but he did manage to catch a fish, or two. Well…Dan managed to hook his thumb while trying to remove a big bass shortly after George left them. So that ended their time of fishing. Tanya and Daniel went to the ER because Daniel said it felt like it had gotten to the bone…fortunately it missed the bone by a hair, but they did have to numb it to get the hook out. He’s sporting a sore thumb now but he has another good story to add to his list of stories. He said it was worth it to catch a fish like he did. Must be a man thing!
Our drive to Franklin was another uneventful trip. Carter and Lori have just moved into their “new-to-them” home and it is very nice. They are doing a lot of remodeling so we haven’t seen the finished home yet. George and Carter created a garden spot as Lori really enjoys gardening…their yard is quite large…and the size of the garden they made will keep her busy ALL summer and fall! We hope to go back during the summer so we can enjoy the “fruits of their labor”. Our trip was to short, but they are busy…in fact Carter was headed to Dallas today…and we needed to get back home.
We woke up early this morning so were got ready and was on the road by 6:30. It is always good to get back home and back to whatever is our normal routine. Now to get a week’s worth of clothes washed, along with the sheets/towels from the “blue house” since our guest left this morning and more coming in Friday.
It was good spending time with daddy but so very sad to see how lonely he is along with the decline of his physical and mental health. We loved being with some of own kids…Carter, Lori, Scott, Allison, Daniel, Tanya…and our over the top grandkids…Neyland, Turner, Jerod, Meredith, Blake, and Grayson…wish we could have been with all of the family but that’s next to impossible.
We are truly blessed and God is so gracious to us each and every day. I am so thankful for a loving husband that drove all those many miles so I could spend a few days with dad, and helped wipe my tears because of the events we encountered. Life isn’t always easy but I’m thankful for it and for the love we are able to share with each other. Enjoy the rest of this week and never let a day go by that you don’t share your love with the important people in your life. Love to all.
Blessings……
