May has finally gotten here, the Kentucky derby is just two days away, the sun is shining this morning, the rain has stopped, and it’s going to be a balmy 51 today. That’s right…51 and I don’t call that warm! It is beautiful here, currently, with all the flowering trees, colorful flowers in the yards, and the green, green grass. I guess we’ll eventually just go from this into the heat of summer but that’ll be OK…anything is better than the cold and snow of winter.
Yesterday was yet another emotional day for me…mom and dad’s 75th anniversary. Oh how they would have enjoyed celebrating with everyone! I still have several more “emotional days” headed my way with Mother’s Day, mom’s birthday, and then Father’s Day all within weeks of each other. I guess these special days will get easier but they are still difficult for now. Time is a great healer so I know I will eventually stop crying so much.
Since this is derby week here in KY, we’ll be headed to Louisville on Saturday to celebrate the grand ending of the three weeks of celebrating with some very special friends…while watching the big race on TV…and this is always fun. It’s even suppose to be in the 70’s that day so that’ll be perfect racing weather for the fans! We’ll do our “once a year” catch up on what’s going on with everyone, eat lots of delicious food, watch the race, then head for home. Thanks to Mary and Gene Cash for hosting this every year and making sure we have plenty to eat…along with take home a bunch…and providing the place to come together!
Have a great week-end and enjoy this day that The Lord has made. Love to you all!
Blessings……
