So long Kentucky Derby…

Even though we did not attend the Kentucky Derby again this year, we did manage to attend a derby party in Louisville and cheer the horses on via the TV…looses a lot on TV vs. being at the Downs.  We have attended one of the Cash’s parties now for over 15 years and they are always great.  Gene and Mary put so much time, money, and effort in making sure everyone has a good time and plenty of food to eat…and to take home.  It was good seeing many long time friends and catching up on what’s happening in all their lives…some have been friends for almost 50 years, so we’re all old but we still like one another!  The horse George and I were suppose to cheer for never made it to the finish line while the cameras were still running!  I’m glad I’m not a gambler ’cause we’d be broke if I did bet…I never have picked a winner but there’s gonna be a first, some day.

We’re going back to Louisville on Wednesday to see Tyler perform with his middle school choir…he’ll be playing the piano for them…remember this is the guy that’s never had a lesson!  We’ll also try to catch some of Kyle’s baseball game after that.  There is a chance Tyler will have to play ball and NOT perform with the choir if his middle school team makes the play offs, but we won’t know about that until later this week.

Saturday Meredith will be in her spring dance recital…we have such talented grandchildren!  She’s worked very hard on getting all the different dances perfected but she said today she’s ready for a break!  With school, church (youth activities), her AP testing, and finals she’s beginning to feel a little bit overwhelmed.  She excels in everything, so she’ll be just fine!

Melissa said that Madi will have to drop out of track for now because the other side of her pelvic is starting to break due to stress when she’s running.  Once she’s finished growing…the growth plates completely closed…she should be able to go back to running track, but for now she can’t run, jump, etc. at all.  The good thing is, this was found before it broke completely or she’d be back on crutches for another six weeks, or more.  She’s pretty bummed ’cause she really likes track and volleyball…and she’s great at both…but her future health has to come first.

I talked with Linda Lou today and she’s doing so much better and even drove her car a couple of times recently.  We’ll get a new update on Wednesday after she goes back to the doctor.  She’s hoping she’ll be able to quit wearing her brace since she’s not in pain anymore, for the most part, and feeling so much better.

Linda and Jim made it home safely and we are thankful for that.  They are glad to be home, experiencing some jet lag, but doing well over all.  The trip was successful, and the students were a good group, so all in all…another successful Vienna trip!

Spring seems to be here to stay now that the Derby is over it’s time to plant tomatoes, etc.  I think I’ll just catch the farmer’s markets and not fool with trying to grow my own tomatoes.  The last time we had some tomato plants, we got very few since the squirrels seem to eat them faster than I could find them and pick them.

Have a good week and know you are all loved!

Blessings……..
