Our trip home was uneventful…thankfully! We left Sarasota around 6 a.m. on Saturday morning and drove as far as Knoxville, TN. We could have gone all the way but my back kept screaming…”You’ve got to be kidding”…along with thinking someone was using our home for the night which would have meant we’d have no bed when we got here (but that changed and no one ended up here). The last time we drove over 12 hours, I was hardly able to move for the next week, or so. We had a rainy morning all the way into Georgia but the sun was out for the rest of the day, even though it was getting cooler. We started seeing snow on the sides of the road just north of Atlanta, but the roads were clear, so that was good. We made good time, even though traffic was heavy, and no one seem to be bumping into each other, driving in the grass, or kissing a guard rail. We, aka ME, finally had enough so we stopped for the night.
After we got checked into a nice room, we enjoyed a light dinner, had a good nights rest, and we were back on the road by 7:30 a.m. Since we were only about three hours from home, we decided to make it to church and got there just a couple of minutes before it started. It was good seeing everyone and we were thankful to be back home. Tanya fed us a good lunch after church and then we got to unload our overloaded car for the next hour…amazing how much my “certified UPS package handler” was able to pack in our car.
We, also, had a church plant meeting Sunday evening so I spent part of the afternoon making a casserole to take…only way I’d have something to eat…and we finally got home just before exhaustion set in. Today we got all the stuff unpacked, put away, “blue house” business taken care of, grocery shopping done, and we , once again, ate out since I was not in a cooking mood any longer. Tomorrow I only have a little laundry to do, bills to pay, and then cook us a good dinner so we can say we are truly back to whatever our normal consist of. It was a wonderful two months and we feel so blessed to have the opportunity of being there. We’ve made some really great friends through the ten years we’ve been going there and got to enjoy quite a few dinners with all the different ones. We will be looking forward to being back next year!
Our feral/domesticated cat was a little leery of me when we got home…think she was afraid the house sitter was still here…but once she got in and realized it was just us, she became very needy. She followed me everywhere I went and kept “talking” to me and wanted to be petted constantly….usually she’s mad at us when we go away and will have nothing to do with us. Cats do have attitudes, you know!
There’s still snow on the ground, cold…high only in the mid 30’s today…, and a heavy storm is being predicted for Wednesday/Thursday so WELCOME HOME! Spring can come early, as far as I’m concerned, and stay here forever! I might add…I HATE WINTER!!!
Time to get ready for bed, so I’ll say good night to you all. Have a good week, stay warm, and you are all loved by me.
Blessings……
