Carter and Lori

We were blessed to have Carter and Lori with us last night.  They left Birmingham yesterday morning to go and see Chance at Western University in Bowling Green, KY and then headed towards Campbellsville, KY to see Chase at Campbellsville University…approximately a two hour drive between the two.  They found both the boys to have nice, CLEAN, and well maintained living arrangements.  Of course, the semester is just starting so we’ll need an update in a couple of months!  Chase will finish up his degree in Criminal Justice in December of 09…on the 4 1/2 year plan.  Chance is just starting and hasn’t declared a degree plan yet.

Branden is also suppose to graduate this next spring…he’s a photography major…at UofL.  Sean is also back at UofL and hoping the Army won’t need him again until he finishes…not sure where he is on his plan or what’s his major.  Lacey will begin her college career in January so we’ll have a bunch of smart grand kids before it’s all said and done.  We have eight more grand kids to go to college so all our kids will be broke or deep in college debt!  Yuck!

Today is another beautiful day with plenty of sunshine, humidity, and heat.  The big UofL/KY game is this afternoon so it will be a HOT one.  GO CARDS!!!

Thankfully my Mother did well with her epidural and appears to have less pain.  Walking is still a problem…her legs just don’t want to go!  The doctor said she may have to repeat this procedure and it could be a week before she sees any real improvement.  We’re hoping for a miracle, I’m sure, but I just want her to have a better quality of life.

The Lord continues to bless us far more than we ever thought possible.  We’re enjoying the young couple that moved in across the street and I know the next four years will be hard ones for them.  We pray the Lord will use us to help them carry their load when it gets too heavy.

May all of you have a great and relaxing Labor Day.  We will be grilling out with the Crockett’s and Mark and Margo Black of Nashville, TN.  That should be a fun time.  We haven’t seen Mark and Margo since last December at the wedding of the daughter Sara.  They are actually coming to see the Crockett’s but we’re getting some time with them at the cookout.  They are special people and we’re really happy to call them friends.

Please pray for all the people that will be affected by Gustav.  New Orleans looks as though it will get hit hard again and they haven’t recovered from Katrina.  The people we worked with have all left the area after having packed up all their equipment, etc and are heading north.  Let’s just hope it will all still be there when they return.  Vandalism and thief is always a problem.  They’ve worked so hard for three years and it may all be for naught.  All we can do is pray and know without a doubt that God is still in control.  Enjoy the weekend!

Blessings………
