Our time with Clark and Vanessa….

Our time with Clark and Vanessa was packed full of fun things each day they were here.  They got here on Thursday, the 23rd, in time for dinner and then an evening of catch-up conversation.  On Friday, we went to the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY and that’s a fun touristy thing to do.  It is interesting to see how they make bourbon, even though it was their down time in the plant because of the heat which effects the bourbon.  It’s, also, amazing to me, that they make so many thousands of gallons every week…along with all the other distilleries on the Bourbon Trail…and it all gets consumed.  We did a little antique shopping on the way home and Vanessa found some treasures she can use it her home…another successful trip.

At some point on this day, the guys got started on the chopping block table Clark wanted for his BBQ cooking area at home.  He has a smoker and makes quite a lot of yummy stuff in it.  Saturday Vanessa and I did some more antiquing, while the guys worked on the table but ended up fishing with Daniel and Jerod…the fish weren’t hungry so not much luck there.  We, along with all the Crockett’s, met at a very nice restaurant on Saturday evening for dinner and then came back here for more conversation and cookies.

Sunday was church, then we had a good lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant around here, a quick trip back to Versailles for something Vanessa decided she really wanted, more work on the table, burgers that evening, and more time with the Crockett’s.  This morning, the table was completed and it turned out beautifully.  They packed up and headed back to Louisville this afternoon and will be headed home in the morning.  We loved being with them and the time just flew by, but we feel so blessed that they love us enough to come our way.

We are also enjoying Pal’s company for the next eleven days while his family enjoys a fun time at the beach in Florida.  He’s a good dog but can get a little hyper at times.  He’s always ready to go when he thinks we’re going out…even to take out the garbage…so he has a lot of disappointment each day.  Poor baby!

Jerod has gotten back home after five weeks in Morehead for the governors scholars.  He had a great time but he’s sure glad to be back home.  He said he was glad he went, made some good friends, and learned a lot.

Next week we’ll have Scott, Allison, Turner, and Neyland here.  That will be another fun time and we’re anxious for them to come.  The boys will be starting kindergarten this fall and that seems almost impossible.  Time goes by so fast!

Guess that’s about it for now.  Enjoy the week and make some good memories.  Love to you all.

Blessings……
