What a beautiful morning here in Wilmore. The sun is shining bright, the temperatures are rising, and all is well with me.
We had a really good day yesterday. We went to worship and then out to brunch…we shared a really good omelet. Then that afternoon we took off to see some of the sights of central Kentucky. We went the back roads towards Richmond. Once we got to the KY river we had to take the ferry across…something you don’t experience every day. We saw some really pretty sights and some areas of real poverty. Once we got to Richmond, we found a pottery festival going on in one of their parks close to the college. So we stopped and checked it out. The only thing we bought was some “Tasty Potatoes” which were quite good…not sure it’s worth the calories and fat grams, but they were tasty. This would have been good for the kids as they were giving pottery lessons and they could have made something. We chose not to show off our talents!
Once we left Richmond we headed for Berea. The college there has a really pretty campus…as did Eastern Kentucky in Richmond. George got his masters from Eastern and that’s the first time he ever saw their campus…he took his classes at the KY truck plant in Louisville. Most of the shops, etc. were closed because it was Sunday but we enjoyed just seeing what we could. My last time in Berea was several years ago while on a ladies retreat and we had a tornado while there…lots of damage but we were all OK and accounted for, so the retreat continued. We thoroughly enjoyed the time out yesterday, but it was good getting back to the house. There really is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!
We were blessed with having Meredith spend the night with us last night. She’s certainly no trouble…goes right to bed, gets up in a good mood, eats a good breakfast, and ready for a great day at school. Wish I could say those same traits apply to me but that would not be true. I do go to bed easily, not sure I like mornings, seldom eat breakfast, but always glad for a new day and a fresh start. That is, until it’s time to go on my morning walk…it was HOT this morning. I’m really thankful for the ability to walk and have a safe place to do it, in spite of my grumbles. I’ve met several regulars and maybe in time we’ll stop long enough to introduce ourselves!
Enjoy your week and we’ll do the same. We’re sure hoping the Lord will send us some rain…it’s so terribly dry here!Â
Blessings……..
