Last week was busy…

After getting all “back together” from our week in Florida last Sunday and Monday, we managed to stay busy from there on.  On Tuesday I had my first cataract surgery and that went well and healing seems to be taking place.  I was told to take it easy for the next several days so I did that the rest of Tuesday and most all of Wednesday.  It’s hard to “do nothing” when you feel good and have no reason to want to be lazy.

On Thursday afternoon, Tanya called and ask us to ride down to Nashville with her, Jerod, and Meredith so they could do the Lipscomb campus tour for future students..so we got our stuff together and went with them.  We made a stop in Bowling Green and visited with Kyle for about an hour, or so, on our way there and that was so good…he’s doing well and adjusting to college life.  We got to Linda and Jim’s a little before midnight…didn’t leave Wilmore until 8 p.m.EST…so we all hit the sack ASAP.  Tanya and the kids then left on Friday morning to go to DLU and we hung around the house…no car to go anywhere…until Linda and Jim got home from their night away to celebrate their anniversary.  We enjoyed our visit with them, our lunch at a “cool” BBQ place, and then we hit the road for home around 6 p.m. CST and the traffic was heavy, or the roads were under construction, almost all the way to E’town, KY. getting us home around 10:30 p.m.  We did stop at a Wendy’s for a quick dinner so we didn’t waste time getting home…it just took FOREVER!!!

We knew when we left on Thursday we’d have to clean the “blue house”,  regardless of what time we got home, so that’s what took place from the minute we got home until after midnight.  We had guest leave while we were gone and more coming in on Saturday.  Three of the Crockett kids were running cross country on Saturday morning and we didn’t want to miss them…already missed several because of Florida or they were away meets.  It was a beautiful morning and Jerod and Meredith ran at the Horse Park and that’s such a beautiful place.  Both did well…especially considering they didn’t eat as well as they should have on Friday and had a short night of rest.  Grayson ran in Georgetown…not to far from the horse park…and he came in 10th!…it was really warm by the time he ran at noon but he didn’t let that keep him from giving it his all.

On Saturday afternoon, we were invited to a fund raiser concert at the Kalas Village…housing for seminary families…and those kids were amazing.  The talent far exceeded anything we expected and we were so glad we attended and would go again in a heart beat.  Once we got home from that, I fixed us some dinner and got myself a bath and was in bed by 9:30 p.m.  I was exhausted.

Today we had our first service with our church plant and it was amazing.  Our crowd was larger than we expected, the worship time was excellent, and we truly felt God’s presence among us.  We pray Jessamine county will know the Lord through our efforts of serving God by serving those around us.  Please pray our effort will always be for God’s glory and never for ourselves.

Guess I’ve rattled on long enough.  Have a great week, enjoy these beautiful fall days, and look for ways to serve those around you.  Thanks again, Linda and Jim for your unexpected hospitality, and we loved spending some time with you. Love to you all.

Blessings….
