Happy New Year….

Happy New Year to all that read my “grandma” blog.  Our year of 2015 ended with a big plus in that George was released from the Venice Regional Hospital after having suffered a very mild stroke on the 30th of December.  All the many test came back negative but the fact he couldn’t swallow and the right side of his face was a little droopy says he did have a stroke…in the brain stem area…and that’s how’s he’s being treated.

Within 24 hours, he was again able to swallow…but with a little difficulty…and all the “droopiness” was gone.  Here it is January 1, and he is able to swallow even better, on a regular diet, but needs to chew food better, two swallows to every bite taken, and sit at a 90 degree angle while eating…no laying down to eat while watching football!  He feels very fortunate and is taking this warning very seriously.  We will continue to eat healthy, exercise (walk) more often, and chew, chew, chew before swallowing.  Thank you to all that have prayed, and are continuing to pray, for him…and me…during these last few days.  He had excellent care while in the hospital and Richard…our nephew-in-law…made sure we got some of the best doctors at that hospital.  He’ll do some follow up here, and more when we get home, and we thank God for the minimum amount of damage that was temporarily done.

We continue to look forward to having a great time here in Florida as we enjoy the beach, warm days, good restaurants, and local friends.  May 2016 be a year where peace will reign and love will be shown throughout the world.  We need to let our “lights shine for Jesus” every day and that will certainly be a good start to sharing the love of Jesus to all around us.  Love to you all!

Blessings…..
