We made it….

After one long day and one 4.5 hour day, we made it to our Florida home for the next 2.5 months.  We left home on a freezing, dreary day to arrive in Englewood to a cloudy, warm day (82 degrees).  This is our first time to stay in a “55+ retirement park” and this is truly a good example of community.  So far, the neighbors we have met are extremely friendly and helpful, the walkers speak as we pass by, and the homes, for the most part, are maintained very well with lots of flowers blooming in their yards.  Our “home” is a two bedroom/two bath double wide and it’s comfortable along with adequate.  The kitchen isn’t stocked as well as I stock our guest house but that’s OK.  We have fluffed our new nest, stocked up on some groceries, and the relaxing has begun.  Retirement is so hard!

I do believe coming down BEFORE Christmas was a blessing because the traffic was a LOT less than previous years.  We did have heavier traffic between Atlanta and Macon and then again after we got past Tampa…not the stop and go kind, but heavier.  We saw no real problems, or had any, at any point which is always a good thing.  Our first day was only a 10.5 hour drive…stayed in Valdosta, GA…and that was enough for our weary bodies.  If you ever have an opportunity to spend the night in Valdosta stay at the Drury Hotel.  They are reasonable in price, nice comfy rooms, hot breakfast and dinner, along with all the other things we never use…pool, exercise room, etc.

Guess that’s all for now.  Have a wonderful Christmas and may you all stay warm, healthy, and filled with the Lord’s love and blessings.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Blessings……
