Derby day…

Oh what great memories we have of going to many Kentucky Derby’s at Churchill Downs, along with derby parties hosted by friends for many years after that.  The parties were stopped when our host went to “party” on those golden streets and no one else could rise up to his standards, so they have been discontinues…at least we are no longer invited if they are going on.  All good things do come to an end and I can honestly say that I’m thankful I’m not there today…to cold for these old bones!  It is a very fun event and I would recommend that all go at least once just for the experience.  The horses are fantastic and the people are fascinating.  The Kentucky weather has been horrible all week, with more rain than normal, and much cooler temperatures that keeps everyone on the COLD side and not happy about it.  At least it’s not sleeting/snowing like it did on us one of the years we went.

George and I are still doing well even though I had a little bump in the road this week.  I was walking through George’s office on Monday and caught my left little toe on the leg of a chair and broke it.  Man did it ever HURT!!!  I taped it to the next toes…and it’s still taped today (Saturday) as it’s still a tad tender.  Walking was almost non existent the rest of Monday and most of Tuesday, but that’s all better now and once all the bruising goes away, it’ll all be another memory of never wearing shoes in the house.

Thankful that Linda Lou got “some” relief when they took one of the screws out of her heel from her last surgery a week, or so, ago.  Bless her heart as she can’t get a break from having surgeries or relief from the pain.

All of our clan appears to be doing well.  Both Kyle and Jerod have finished up another year of college and looking forward to being home for the summer…now they get to go to work instead of class.  Meredith will graduate in just a few weeks and she’s so ready for that.  She, too, will be going to LU and planning to study pre-law.  All the kids are ready to get away from the classroom but working isn’t all that great on some days either, so…welcome to the adult world kids!

We were pleased to have Jim, Jr come visit us for a couple of days this week.  He’s so special and fun to have around.  They are in the process of moving to Franklin so it made it even more special he took the time to come see us.

Guess that’s about it for now.  Have a great week-end and worship time tomorrow.  Love to you all.

Blessings…..
