Not sure just why my blogging has almost ceased to exist, but it has. Maybe our lives are just so ho-hum that there’s really not much happening that would be of interest to anyone else. I’m not sure anyone ever reads what I put on here anyway.
We had a good couple of days visiting with Clark, Vanessa, Branden, and Dwayne in March. It had been 2 1/2 years since we had been in their home and they entertained us well. We took two days to get there, since it’s about 14 hours of travel time for us, arriving on March 28th. It was good seeing all of them and they are all doing well and staying busy. After visiting for a while, we all went out to eat at a nice restaurant. I enjoyed a good dinner of liver and onions. I can’t remember the last time I had eaten that and it was delicious…something you very seldom see on a restaurant menu. On Friday we did some sight seeing, ate burgers at home, and then attended a ice hockey game…never been to one before…and that was fun. Saturday morning George went to breakfast with our friend, Emmanuel Afful, and caught up on what’s life been doing for him. He’s was a former neighbor here in Wilmore while attending the seminary, and we miss talking with him. Saturday afternoon we went to see Vanessa’s shop and I could have spent more time there just looking. Lots of pretty stuff and there are over 200 booths to look through. We picked up some BBQ to take back to the house for dinner. After dinner we went to our first arena football game. That was interesting but I prefer REAL football if I had a choice between the two. Sunday was church and then an afternoon of basketball games since the final four is going on. Clark, again, took all of us to a really nice steak house that night and it was very yummy…had scallops this time. We left for home early Monday morning (6:20 a.m.) and drove for about 9 hours and then stayed in Mt. Vernon, IL for the night. It was good to get home, since Tyler was waiting for us when we got here, and sleeping in our own bed is always a plus. Tyler came to visit for a couple of days since he had some down time, and that was good. We always enjoy a grandkid coming our way. He is currently in Hawaii visiting a former baby sitter and her family and having a ball. Life is rough when you’re young with little commitments.
I do believe spring is here and I am ever so thankful. It’s in the upper 60’s to lower 70’s today…in between rain showers…the flowers are blooming, along with the trees, and the allergies are present. It’s really a beautiful time to visit central Kentucky. Blake is busy with baseball and about ready to graduate from high school…Kyle graduates from WKU on May 10th and will begin his new job of selling insurance there in Bowling Green…Tanya will walk and receive her doctorate on May 10th from Vanderbilt…Meredith will return home from her semester abroad on May 22nd and she ran in a mini-marathon this morning and cut four minutes off her timing…life is just so full and we are so blessed.
Continue to pray for my sister that the cancer is finally gone and no more chemo will be needed. She’s done well, but it’s sure not been much fun going through those treatments. Guess that’s enough for now. Would love hearing from anyone that reads this and may you always know you are loved by me.
Blessings….
