It’s been over a month since I’ve opened up this program. Normally not much happens around here but the last weekend has been packed full. On Thursday, May 9th, we headed for Nashville to see Linda and Jim before we witnessed Tanya’s graduation from Vanderbilt on Friday, May 10. Linda really out did herself in making a delicious dinner that evening. Lawrence was able to join us…Linda and Buddy were both a little under the weather…so that was good getting to see him. Over all, Linda says she’s doing OK but still feels so extremely tired all the time and her legs are very weak, along with all foods still having a metallic taste. Chemo sure does havoc on the body but the doctors say it will take about a year to get over all of it so she’s being patient. We’ll keep praying for her and trusting she’ll be back like she desires soon.
Tanya’s graduation began at 9 a.m. and it was a very large ceremony. Heavy storms were predicted but never happen and we were so thankful as it was all outside. The first part included everyone graduating…appeared to be in the thousands…and then the ones getting a masters, or a doctorate, were dismissed to go to their area of study building. This ceremony was more personal and each one had their named called and they walked across the stage. They were then ‘hooded’ and received their diploma. A very nice reception followed. When it was all over George and I headed for Bowling Green…after eating lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant.
We got to Bowling Green around 4;30, checked into our room, connected with Melissa and Byron, and then headed to Kyle’s graduation that took place at 6 p.m…Melissa has posted several pictures of this on FB so check her page to see those. His graduation was nice, also outside, and the heavy storms never happen there…even those they were predicted all day. He was so happy to be finished, and we were all so proud of him and the hard work he did to achieve his degree. Melissa and Byron had a really nice party for him at a local restaurant and that was lots of fun. Saturday morning we gathered for breakfast before heading for home. Scott, Allison, Neyland, & Turner came home with us so our fun continued on until late Sunday afternoon.
Everyone is now back to reality but the memories will last forever. Being with all the Crockett’s, the Gabehart’s, and Scott’s family sure made us happy. We feel so blessed to have each of them in our lives and thank God often for allowing us to be the parents, or grandparents, even great-grandparent to these awesome people. We, too, are back to our reality since we had to clean the blue house after guest left yesterday and more came in today.
It’s way to cool for me today and I’m sure hoping this cool snap will go away by tomorrow. We’ve had some beautiful days, lately, and the warmth is so welcome to my bones. Have a great week, love often, and see the beauty in just being YOU. Love to all that read this.
Blessings……
