Again back home

We made a quick trip to Louisville and are once again back home.  We left for Louisville Thursday afternoon and got there in time to pick up the two younger ones at the bus stop…always a thrill to see the joy they express when they see us.  We got them back home and then we headed to the funeral home for Gilbert’s visitation.  The place was packed and we got to see many friends and found the Dadisman family doing well.  After two hours of hugging everyone we knew, we said good-bye and headed back to the Gabehart’s.  Melissa had fixed a really good dinner…Swiss steak and it was delicious.  I once again got to sleep…if you can call it that…in the princess room with Madi.  She was rather restless so I received many jabs, kicks, and she even rolled over on top of me but we both managed to survive.  It was worth it because it won’t be many more years and she’ll find this not so cool!  All the kids are doing well and we cherish each visit we have with them.

Today we woke up to a really nice rain…and it even rained in Wilmore.  George was up and out by 6:15 a.m. to meet a friend for coffee.  Melissa and I got the two younger ones to school and then we headed to her doctor’s appointment…which she cancelled upon entering the waiting room.  Her appointment was at 9:15 and they had booked approximately a dozen…that’s right – 12 people…for the same time slot.  She certainly had not planned on spending the morning in his waiting room.  I think she may find another doctor!  We left there and met George at a neat restaurant for a late breakfast and we were surprised to find the hostess was a friend of ours.  Vicki has had some difficult years but seems to be doing well.  Of course, the rain continued and we had no umbrellas…makes for a poor hair day!

From there Melissa and I did some shopping and George headed back to her house.  Around noon, George and I headed back to the funeral home and again the place was packed while the rain continued.  It rained rather hard all through the service, while we waited to go to the grave site, and as soon as we headed to the cemetery the rain ceased.  It was cold and windy but we no longer needed a umbrella.  We went to the OCC building for a lunch before we headed home.  We got back here around 5:30 so we were not gone long…26 hours.

On our way to Louisville, we shared our captured cat with some farm.  I tried to get the animal people to come get it but they were not very “customer friendly”…in fact, she hung up on me.  Oh well, here’s hoping the cat will survive but I’ll never know.  He was glad to be out of the trap and headed off in the woods to seek shelter and safety.  He’s probable back in Wilmore!

We’re expecting some friends tomorrow and we’re looking forward to having Frank and Patty.  They have never been here and I’m not sure what we’ll do, but we’ll find something.

On Wednesday Frances, Lovell, Leigh, and Anita will drop by for a brief visit…after France’s doctor’s appointment…and that will be fun.  Frances is a really special friend, as are all her family members, and we have 40+ years of memories.  Then next Friday we’ll have the Hanauer family coming for a visit and to participate in the Wilmore Halloween fun on Main Street.  The kids don’t go door to door here…we all meet downtown and the retailers and neighbors give the kids candy along with other activities.  It’s a fun time for everyone!  This will be a busy week and I’m looking forward to every minute of it.

Guess that’s about all for tonight.  We’re thankful we were blessed with rain, safe travel, and many good friends.  God continues to bless us far more than we deserve.  May each of you have a very good weekend.

Blessings……..
