Well this last decade sure went by fast and here we are starting a new one. During this last decade we experienced some good things such as the birth of Neyland and Turner, watched several grandkids graduate from high school and adventure into the college life, some graduated from college…grandkids and a son…, had a few get married, blessed with three great grandsons, lost both of my parents, a grandson, my “bestest” friend of over 40 years, along with another male friend of almost that many years, and my baby brother. Some family members have had health issues that have been serious but survivable, thankfully. All in all, life has been good, God continues to bless us daily, and we’re looking forward to what is coming our way throughout 2020.
We arrived in Florida on the 30th and it’s a beautiful day again today. We left Kentucky…gloomy with storms on the way…on the 28th and only went as far as Knoxville before we stopped to spend the night and watch the MANY games on TV…we didn’t leave home until around 2:30-3 p.m. since we had stuff to complete before we could leave. On the 29th we drove to Valdosta, GA…along with almost a 1,000,000 other snowbirds…and that took about 7 1/2-8 hours so that’s always a good stopping point. From Valdosta we had about a 5 hour drive to Venice…actually took longer due to traffic…and spent the night with our friends Bob and Kathy Ahern who are already Wilmore friends that we go to church with that have a home down here. We are now all settled into our abode and loving it.
Last night (New Year’s Eve) we were with our Kansas friends and enjoyed visiting with them but we didn’t make it until midnight like we usually do. Jean has a sister that is critically ill, due to an aneurysm, and that was weighing heavy on Jean’s heart. They are trying to decide if they need to make a quick trip to Iowa or wait to see what happens. Jean’s nephew…her sister’s son…suggested they stay here and enjoy the beach since the sister in totally unresponsive. This is such a hard part of life and so heartbreaking when you feel so helpless in so many ways.
Guess that’s enough for now. Enjoy this new decade, stay warm, and please pray for Jean…and her sister, Pat. I need to check out the beach to see what’s waiting there for us today. Someone’s gotta do this!!!!!! Love to all.
Blessings…….
