January is flying by….

For 26 days we’ve enjoyed being in Florida where the weather has been near perfect every day.  The first few weeks were warmer than normal, then we had a couple of days of the Florida winter, and now we’re back to what is considered normal…mid 70’s for the day and 60’s for the nights.  I know the weather back home has been warmer than normal and then swinging back to the severe cold with LOTS of rain…no snow.  I guess the snow is waiting for our return like it has the last couple of years.  Oh well, i’m just thankful for each day and will take what’s given…may not like it…but i’m always grateful for another day of life.

Yesterday we went over to the Sharky pier and saw a guy catch a small shark and he was most excited about it.  Then we went by the  Englewood airport and saw two planes that flew during WW II.  Those young men that flew these were brave souls and I’m thankful for their service.  One of the planes was like the one George’s cousin, Doug Ezell, flew and it sure wasn’t as big as the ones being used today, the other was a “Tom Cat” and they’d chase the enemy then shot them down.  Again, very brave men!

We’ve been to the movies a couple of times while here and going again on Tuesday to see “Knives Out”.  So far “Little Women”, “Just Mercy”, and “1917” haven’t been disappointing.  My least favorite of these three would be “1917” as we all felt it was just an OK movie.  We’ve been told that the “Knives Out” is a good one and we’re looking forward to seeing it.  Bob and Kathy Ahern are going with us so that’ll make it special.

We do enjoy the time we’re getting to spend with friends here while making new ones here in the park.  Ron, Jean, Bob, and Kathy are long time friends so they are always enjoyable.  We’re meeting Teresa and Richard, along with whatever kids are still around, for lunch today.  We usually only connect with them once while here since their schedules are always full.  Their oldest daughter, Hannah, is still in the military and working on her graduate degree…Mason and Cooper are at UF…Scarlett and Max are still home and such sweet kids.

We’ve gotten to the beach on several days and that is about my favorite…very relaxing while enjoying all the sights, sounds, and smells of the salty air.  We’ve seen some beautiful sunsets, dolphins, and can always be entertained by just people watching.  We’ve taken in one antique show, free entertainment at the park…thankful for the rain that ended it early for us…a arts/craft fair, a geezer breakfast at a UMC, read several books, and many miles walked most days so we can enjoy the many good restaurants that are around.

Guess that’s about it for now.  Stay warm, healthy, and content.

Blessings…..
