A busy but fun weekend

Melissa and her four children came to Wilmore on Friday night and it was good having them around.  Melissa and Ryan stayed here with us on Friday night so she could get Ryan up and out for his wrestling tournament in Woolford County early Saturday morning…the other three stayed with the Crockett’s.  It turned out that Ryan’s Papa…a.k.a. George…took him for his early morning weigh in so Melissa and I didn’t have to leave here until around 9:30 a.m.

Ryan’s first match was unsuccessful with him getting pinned after putting up a good fight.  His second and third rounds were better and he was the winner by pinning both of those opponents and then he again lost the fourth round.  He’s really doing quite well for his first season and seems to really enjoy the sport.  I think it’s a great sport for the kids as it really teaches them the importance of discipline and dedication.  Way to go Ryan…we’re so very proud of you!

Last night we had the girls…Meredith, Madi, and Melissa…spend the night here.  We all got up and out to church so the morning was not very exciting.  The college ministry guy had order far too many pizza’s for the college kids lunch…many have already gone home for Christmas break…so we were blessed with several large pizza’s that we enjoyed once we got back home.  Also, today Blake had a birthday bowling party that he enjoyed with several of his friends and cousins…tomorrow is his actual birthday and he’s 9 years old already.  He’s a cutie and a joy to be around.  He’s still “Mr. Funnyman” when he wants to be…this is from his daddy’s side of the family I’m sure.  I did not attend the bowling event since I decided to go to the Asbury College production of “Messiah” and that was very good.  There’s so much talent amoung college kids all over and what a joy to get to benefit from it.  George and Madi went with me but George had to leave early to help transport boys to the bowling alley.

We’re headed over to Louisville in the morning for dental appointments and to meet with our financial advisor.  Hope she’ll have some good news for us!  Then we’re coming back home to celebrate with Blake and enjoy some of his birthday dinner.  This will be a busy week since Christmas is just days away, I still have shopping to do, and I want to do some baking, etc. for Christmas gifts for my neighbors.  Then Jerry Page will be here next Sunday…George’s cousin from Alabama…for a few days and we’re really looking forward to having him.  He’s bringing his daughter up to see her mom’s family for Christmas, etc.  The days continue to just fly by so Christmas will be here and gone before I know it.

Have a blessed week and try to stay warm.

Blessings……….
