What a fun time we’ve had with our kids and grandkids that were able to come to Wilmore for our family Christmas these last few days. We chose to have dinner Friday night at one of the few local restaurants…La Casa Del Jose’…and we all enjoyed some good authentic Mexican food.Â
Afterwards we came to our home and enjoyed many good treats, genuine gift exchanges, and the favorite of most being the “White Elephant” gifts. We all had a big laugh when Tanya opened her White Elephant gift and it was a picture of George when he was a senior in high school. His mother had that in her house and somehow it ended up at Melissa’s after she died and now it’s with Tanya. It’s no small picture either…11×14 if not bigger. It is a good picture of him, however, and Tanya said she’s going to hang it up in her house. I got a book by Fabio that I doube is worth reading, George got a terrible looking wig, and all the others got equally good quality gifts. My book is now in the “gag gift cabinet” for some future event. Beware…You may see that at one of your parties next year! Thanks Daniel! It was a great time and memories were made. George has pictures on his blog, I think.
Saturday we had a breakfast for everyone before Melissa and her crew headed back to Louisville…Ryan had a wrestling event at 1 p.m. and he needed to be home for that. Then last evening we had the big ham dinner with all the trimmings and I thought it was good and no one went away hungry. Today, Sunday, Scott and Allison headed back to Memphis so we are once again on the quiet side. I’ve been doing laundry and cleaning house ever since we got home from church and George is out in his work shop doing something. It’s a beautiful, sunny day so we’re enjoying it. We missed having Carter and Clark here with their families but we’re thankful they had a good Christmas in their homes with family and friends.
Clark is suppose to be here Tuesday night and we’re excited about that. Sean rode the train to Burlington for Christmas…Branden stayed in Louisville…but his folks are taking him back to Louisville. So, they said they were coming to spend the night since they would be in “the neighborhood”. Tomorrow, Monday, we’re meeting Gary and Dianne in Frankfort for lunch and to catch up on what’s going on in our lives. They’re friends of several years and a lot has happened for them this last year. Again…we’re looking forward to seeing them.
In just a little less than a month we’ll be headed to Florida and I’m really excited about that. I love the warm weather, the salty air, and the beaches along with the good food, friends, etc. We both get a lot of reading done…both spiritual and fun…and I’m hoping to crochet some if my arm will permit it. We can do these same things here but it’s just more fun in Florida. Must be the warm, salty air!
Today is Chipper’s birthday…George’s only brother…and we wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It’s been quite sometime since we’ve seen him but we hope he has a very special day.
Enjoy your week!
Blessings……..
